I have no idea which parents at our school are contributing a lot to the school which enables FA. So how could I write to thank them? The exception is that my DC got a scholarship that is named after alumni and I have written them. I have thanked the school profusely. Maybe I am wrong but I don't think most of the parents who make large contributions would liked to be singled out and thanked by poor parents.

If you do these things and still can't afford a private school, the school is likely to help with financial aid.

Is it worth it? Many say no. We say yes. We had opinions about the kind of environment where we wanted our kids to be educated, so it was a priority for us to be able to choose their schools, and we're happy that we did. Every family has to look at its own options and set its own priorities.


This is us. We have a simple lifestyle with modest HHI. You don't have to give up everything nice. Just obvious luxuries that could pay tuition. The first year, I was terrified to even post on FB about taking my kid to see a movie. Then I realized that the FA committee just wanted to see we weren't asking them to pay for our kid when we could afford it with reasonable budgeting.

It's none of your business who is getting financial aid. How about you make that suggestion at one of the school meetings and see how well that goes over.


She won't because then everyone will know that she's bitter and miserly. And then how else will she feel superior?
$600k HHI mom is entitled and self absorbed. Anti FA posters who want to ban all aid are self absorbed a-holes. Luckily, sanity and reason really does overshadow the crazy outliers.

Yes, but $600k poster (if she's real) says she only has one child who is obviously school aged. She can get at least a part time job somewhere.

Most of the SAHMs I've met aren't very marketable, if they stay home with younger kids they might not be able to get another job that would cover the cost of daycare.
