Don't get me wrong... I'm relieved to see JS back. Love him and it sounds like he's got a huge role this season. I read that he filmed more than any other character on the show.

BTW what was the legend about the king of the white walkers and some ice queen / witch?
Wights can't speak. Beric Dondarian could after being resurrected by Thoros of Myr, so I would assume Jon will be able to speak.

Sure she could've remained uncertain of her abilities but it would've been better if after not waking they tried to burn the corpse and there was a rebirth by flame or something more dramatic. Not on Melisandre's end but on the circumstances of the resurrection.
I'm fairly certain this is how it will happen in the books. Like many readers, I think R+L=J, so it would make sense if they burn him and he comes out 'unburnt.'
For the show - there was literally no other reason to have Melisandre at the wall, so not really shocked that Jon is alive again.

I think that might be the worst segment in the whole series.
+1. Underwhelming especially after such a buildup.
Nah. The simplicity of it highlights her insecurity and lack of faith in her own, well, faith. If she'd stormed in there, all balls, and made some sort of magical fireworks and then POOF! Jon Snow! we would've missed the impact of her "impostor syndrome" and self-doubt. She doesn't think she can do it, and there's a tentative, hesitant quality to each of her movements.
The ritual itself was similar the last time we saw it, so it wouldn't have made sense to change it much anyway.
