However, yes I think you should have him practice pulling the wet swimpsuit up.

+1! OP, you're the mom. I'll bet that 80% of the other women there are moms and grandmoms. They get it. Relax and feel free to bring your son in there.

most (all?) people come and go to the neighborhood pool in their swimsuits and a cover up. Going through the dressing room was never an issue for me. But it did get to the point where my boys didn't want to be seen in the girls dressing room - probably around 4. At that point I just sent them straight through the men's room, I went through the ladies room and we met on the other side. If they dawdled, I would call in to them.

With rec centers, more people change from street clothes to swimming suits and vice versa. Many unfamiliar faces...so we used the family changing rooms. If one wasn't available, we just put clothes on over wet suits after toweling off and exited through doors (not changing rooms).

I don't know what she expected from me.

He was 3? She was a giant bitch. You are nice, because I would have told her to get a life and STFU.

I would have been much worse, if you can't be around a 3 year old naked...you need professional help.

At our neighborhood pool, you HAVE to walk through either the women's locker room or the men's locker room to get to the pool. And to get to the pool from the locker room you have to practically walk through the open showers. He has taken our 5 year old daughter to the pool without me a few times and was really disturbed that he had to walk her through the men's shower with a bunch of naked men to get to the pool. She could have gone through the women's locker room by herself I suppose but it is quite a maze and the doors pretty heavy for a little one to open by themselves. When my DH complained to the pool the guy was sympathetic but said there wasn't really anything they could do. They wouldn't even allow them to walk through the employee entrance to the pool. I don't consider ourselves to be prudes or anything but it would be nice if my husband could take our daughter to the pool without walking her through a room of penises!

Maybe he can ask a female employee to walk your DD through to the other side.

What is the big deal with her walking through? Men have penises. Just like if you had a 5 yr old boy you walked through the women's changeroom. She is 5.

OP, the 5-year-old boys I know would all be desperate to look. I'd be pretty uncomfortable having a 5-year-old gawking at me. But I'd understand why he was there, and I'd quickly grab a towel or something to cover up while he was around.

This. We are actually animals. I get social rules but lets not forget the basics.
