This. Theres a huge difference between a size 12 woman who is 5'11 and one that is 5'4". Clothing doesn't matter.

+1. This is me. I'm 5'4" and a size 12, who used to be a size 6. For a whole host of reasons (AMA child-bearing, hitting 40 and metabolism slowing, poor family genetics, flat out laziness) I'm a lot heavier than I was pre-child. Am I obese compared to my mom and her sisters? No. Am I fat? Yes. Disgusting.

I'm a 34DD or a 36D, and I just got two size 2 pieces from Loft. My chest has no right to be in a size 2! (And the pieces are structured--a jacket and a dress.)

That isn't the case with all brands.

Good for you. I'm 5'1" and feel great in a size 6. I'm 5 pounds from my goal weight, and strong with--admittedly--a bit of a mom belly. Certainly not fat.

What a weird question. It's like asking "is 10 miles a long way?" Sure, it is if you are walking, but not if you are riding in an aircraft.

Absolutely. Today's size 12 is a real 16-18.

I'm a pear and when I'm in a 12 jeans it's more like a 6 dress. Maybe 15-20 lbs over my ideal weight. I'd say chubby.

I'm 5'6" and a 12 and definitely think I'm chubby. I feel best when I'm 165 and wear an 8/10. Working to drop 10-15 lbs right now. Technically at that size my BMI is still in the 'overweight' band but it is where I feel best. Really, it's all about ego and how my clothes fit -- even at this weight my dr. says I'm in excellent health with great BP, cholesterol, blood sugar, etc. The only time I was a lower weight was in college when I exercised a ton and didn't sit behind a desk all day. Getting below 165 at this stage in my life would require a - for me - completely unhealthy obsession with food and exercise.

It depends on height, OP.

For example, I'm 5'4, and I certainly would be quite fat if I were a size 12. However, my 6'2 friend is a 12 and she's a healthy weight/size.
