Subject: New Ward 3 Middle School ???
The reality is that Ward 3 will populate a middle school with a majority of proficient students. Other wards are a few years away from doing that. Bringing another highly functioning school is good for DCPS. I live in Ward Six.

The irony of what you are saying is that vis-a-vis Deal, there are families in Wards 1 and 4 that bought in the right neighborhoods and there are families in Palisades and Spring Valley that didn't. Apparently, families in Palisades and Spring Valley don't like being told that they should have bought homes in better neighborhoods. So, their solution is to get a new school built for them. But, I agree with you that they should either go to their inbounds school, apply out-of-bounds, enter charter lotteries, or go private. Those are the same options most families in the city face.

I'm sorry, but wouldn't this be so much simpler if we all just went back to the simple way of fixing things: If you want to go to school in a nice neighborhood, buy a house there. THAT is the price of admisssion. Period. Then once the dust settles, let every Ward fix its own schools; they are then true " community schools"

Hardy is a school which has been through a lot of public turmoil, especially with respect to IB issues and IB families. Before going from Zero-to-Bitch in 10 seconds, maybe it's worth it to ask her to clarify? It's entirely possible she's telling the truth.

Yes, it was shocking because it seems so hard to imagine. The comments weren't directed at me, but at in-bound families in general. Neither was in a classroom. Once was at a PTA meeting, the other was at a DCPS event.

I went on a tour of Hardy last year and a couple of the staff, most prominently the art teacher, were decidedly negative and cold to us. They openly trashed Rhee and the principal, said the school was going down and we should think twice about attending. I was with two other parents and we were kind of struck at the open rebellion and, frankly, the lack of professionalism displayed.
