Just remember Trump is a symptom of the decline and not its cause. All empires come to an end, and that's a good thing. After a period of adjustment, non-imperial America will be much better for Americans than what we have now. Maybe not so great for all the hanger-ons that wanted a free-ride and such though.

Yes, the Republicans are foolish. They want to rely on fossil fuel and a fossil fuel economy but yet invade and poke the bear with oil rich countries assuming the oil will easily be up for grabs and the “war will pay for itself”. Remember the insurgents in Iraq burning up the oil refineries and causing a global oil crisis /price hike which eventually spiraled into Putin becoming a billionaire and the US and Western Europe getting a recession? We also suffered a recession after the Gulf War in 1991.
Our hubris for some reason leads us to believe we can kill and invade people and they will just give us the oil in a hand to hand exchange

No one is better off with this steaming pile of crap. Maybe the Uber wealthy and the connected insiders that are stealing all our money. The other 99% of us have been robbed and we opened the door to the crooks. We voted them in to screw over our families and our family's futures.
There's a lot of countries that have been here and their people are most certainly better off. That is a myth you're telling yourself. It may not be horrible, but there's no way we'll be better off unless it cripples the billionaires and they all move to China.
