Are you being sarcastic? Evidently you are not a working mother trying to balance meetings, deliverables, proposals, trying to limit screen time, thinking of educational activities to keep kids engaged, remembering to feed your kids meals (let alone feed yourself), slip sliding all over the yard while taking the dogs out, etc., etc.

I understand why the kids are out of school and I'm resigned to that, but I am not going to pretend that I'm happy about it and that I think that it's better for my kids to be home rather than in school.

That's what family is for. You and your husband should enjoy this time together with your children. You'll miss it when it's gone.

I absolutely agree! It's sad that anybody has to tell people to enjoy the time they have with their kids despite whatever work issues they also must endure. Although on the other hand if you refuse to be happy about that part of it you are probably right that your kids would be better off in school or with a sitter. They don't need to get the vibe that you can't appreciate extra time with them.

Not referring to PP, but not everybody is a loving and caring parent - they often hate every aspect of parenthood.

Oh shut up already. You're the same type who tells exhausted mothers of newborns to enjoy every second, while they are barely hanging on with postpartum depression symptoms. Parents do not have to enjoy every moment of parenthood. They are allowed to be frustrated with prolonged school closures and stressed about balancing work and kids, especially when it brings back memories of what was a really hard time during the pandemic. It is ok for kids to be aware that their parents can't always drop everything when school is closed, especially now that most adults can telework. Not everything is a black and white dichotomy. That is the thinking of a simple-minded individual. Emotions can co-exist.

Wow! you must have quite an awful life to project so much emotion on an anonymous forum.

Thanks for confirming you are a simpleton.

Thanks for proving my point.

Your point is beyond tired. "People who want their kids at school hate them!" Take your smug ass back to 2020 with that crap.

So much tantruming about school closures seems like you took yourself right back to 2020. I'm sure you were crying then too.

I was home with a toddler the but I had empathy for parents put into an impossible situation. You should try tha some time instead of coming on here to needle and lecture. Loser.

Still yelling at everyone I see.

Still responding to everyone I see, regardless of whether or not it makes any sense. Someone needs to come get their grandma.

It's true you seem to be grumpy and need assistance grandma.

Are they the only kids at the stop? Can’t you just wait with them until the bus comes?

I know people dismissed Reid’s call for help but a bunch of us dug out the bus stops in our neighborhood enough for them to stand on the sidewalk even if they need to walk in the street to get on the bus.

There is no where to even park now. Our bus stop is off of a main road.

To add insult to injury, both of my kids’ schools would not let the kids enter early. We left super early to avoid the kiss n ride rush and then the poor kids weren’t allowed in. Eff u, FCPS.

Anonymous wrote:Why can’t the school offer a longer window for the drop off? If the kids can arrive within 30 min (instead of 10 min) that would help take off a lot of the stress.

My kids’ secondary school announced that they’d open the doors earlier than usual.

Unless busses can’t do their routes, yes.

I don’t think it’s enough of an issue to prevent the whole county from going. I think we will have to adapt.

Megan Mclaughlin made that same argument during the covid panic (schools had been closed for months) and was overruled by the members who agreed that in would be inequitable to only let some kids go back.

Could one or both of them get on the bus at a stop that is in better shape? That might be easier than driving to school depending on your circumstances.
