The seats on the entire bottom level as well as the close in 300 level went for $410 during the ticket lottery before the teams were known. Selling for $250 is a big loss considering SeatGeek takes fees out from the seller.
Not the Visa card holder initial lottery phase, they were cheapest then.

Still way more than any previous World Cup ticket pricing on average. They'll adjust to true market value until all seats are accounted for. This will be the most expensive World Cup to attend ever but not by as much as some involved had hoped.

World Cups gave been held in many locations that were globally unpopular due to poor leadership at the time but yet the love of sport and nationality prevails in modern times. Same could be said for the Olympics. Remember Sochi? Russian hotels were booked.
The other hosts (Russia, Qatar) went out of their way to make visitors feel welcome. Fans did not feel like their personal safety was at risk. As a foreigner who has had to deal with CBP in the Trump era, I do not feel safe crossing the border into the US.
+1 even China was better than Trump's "Murica in terms of welcoming travelers.
Thats because people don't want to sneak into China and get jobs, and people who do crime in China get killed.

I remember Sochi. What I do not remember is Putin threatening potential travelers with their state police and the confiscation and search of their telephones and laptops for the travelers' possible jailing. What I don't recall is Putin threatening the athletes to think twice before coming to the US and trying to get the Olympic Committee to ban their participation, as Trump has threatened Iranian athletes. And I would bet in the polymarket that you, too, do not remember such threats.
Idk what P said, but I would never travel to Russia. They love to lock people up for little to no reason. Yes, I realize the US now does the same.
The point is that even authoritarian countries clean up their act for foreigners when they host elite sporting events. Trump doesn't seem to understand that. That is why foreigners are reluctant to travel to the US - even for the World Cup.
