The top girls will be able to play up.
But of course every parent will think their kid is a top player. It’s going to get messy. But ultimately, either the kid threatening to leave will decide to stay at play at the new grouping or they won’t. It’s that simple. I think the clubs have more power. They can allow everyone to attend an ID session and then simply not select your kid.
Agree, All parents whose kids play up think their kids are the best. Clubs need to hold their ground and stop this. Just go by the rules. I’m sure Q4 kids from 2013 playing down will not have a problem. Don’t let these play-up parents intimidate you. If every club honors the same rule, they’ll have nowhere to go. It will save everyone a headache.
Most teams will have 2-3 players as Q4. Probably slightly higher as you get to B and C teams. This is how statistics work.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:If the coach didn’t ask to talk to you after then not promising. It stinks, but you kind of set yourself up for this situation. Personally, I would just mentally prepare for other teams. FVU might be the best option to make a first team if that is the goal otherwise RL tryouts are in March and there should be some competitive teams looking for backfilling players that go to ECNL or elsewhere.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:You are going to run into an issue with the snow storm. I’d try a few other GA tryouts before I took an Aspire offer.
Understood. Of course there is the 48 hour deadline to accept.
We're coming from a smaller club that maxed out in NCSL.
Just tell them you need a bit more time to decide. Clubs don’t pull offers.
This is my worry. Won't be able to check out other clubs with the snow.
DD was invited out for an ID session a couple weeks ago at McLean, but we haven't received any feedback yet.
SYC's Aspire teams are pretty competitive so if going there from a small club that only offers NCSL, it's not bad. Likely that the u13 aspire is higher level than the current club. If you think your kid is a baller than take them to be seen at other clubs. It's difficult to make some of these club's top teams that have established teams and players. There may be room for 1-2 outside players.
This was probably the type of feedback requested. Both the U13 Aspire and U14 Pre-GA II teams look to be competitive. Especially compared to smaller clubs. If your DD is repeating U13, she should have a good start. Get your foot in the door and let her show that's she capable of more. They liked something if they offered a spot after the 1st session
SYC has a few Q4 coming down for u13 to play again. Will be tough to make that team. But they could increase the roster.
The U13 GA or Aspire team? Or both?
Both.

Still, theyll be able to grab a few wins against teams like Arlington in local tourneys and league play because even those better teams are not dominant teams. 2013s have better talent.
The 2013s were mostly McLean, right? They were a group of girls that were already good and had played together already. 2014 FVU seems like it will be a mix of a few girls from many different teams coming together for the first time. It could work.
Seems to be working mostly for the 2012s. They came from at least six different clubs.
2012s are working for now. There is no future with FVU. It takes good coaching in the older age groups and not just good individual players.
Define “working”. They dominated last fall but everyone figured out the kickball in the spring. Having a solid year but it rests on kickball.
Coaches havent been announced for RL and Aspire so no one knows yet.Anonymous wrote:Because not everyone is already on or can make a top team, what are the ECNL-RL and GA Aspire teams to look into for U13? Which teams have the best coaches at that level?

all these teams either play kickball, rely on one or two big athletic kids to beat everyone, or just plain lose. Poor midfield play is the hallmark of top girls teams in the DMV
