We didn’t know U of Dayton was rolling admission. My DD sent her aplication a few days before the EA deadline, and was accepted about four weeks later into the Honors College. We were all pleasantly surprised. She will most likely decline the offer, as she already is in at another rolling admission school (with a high admission rate) she would be more than happy to attend. It is nice to know you are going somewhere before the holidays.

I’d add, some of the rolling schools have an EA deadline for things like merit, honors colleges, etc. So it is essentially two rolling groups. One rolling group that submitted before the EA deadline, and a second rolling group that submitted after the EA deadline. That seems to be, for example, how Alabama works.

Mary Washington did a really nice thing - they had a regional reception in Fairfax which was 5 days before their EA/ED deadline and said if kids submitted their applications before the reception, they would do an expedited application review and give an admission decision at the reception.

I was wondering how they'd handle that! Would it be face-to-face? They handed out envelopes with the decision. Some opened it right then and some stepped outside the room for more privacy. My daughter opened hers in the car.

Anyway, it was a really nice way to get the kids excited and the staff/faculty, students, and alum who spoke were terrific- my husband and I were ready to enroll ourselves!

Same, my son applied REA to Notre Dame, also likely a no. We are psychologically not expecting any acceptances until late January.

PP here. Thanks for replying- makes sense. My child applied to both Dayton and SH (albeit very recently) so I'll be on pins and needles waiting!

Do most kids get their acceptances electronically first? My DD got a surprise acceptance in the mail the other day, brought me back to the 90s!

I wish my kid had done some rolling admission applications. I'm envious of all these acceptances so early! First one my kid will hear from is Georgetown (so a likely no!)
