I still find him hilarious. Different strokes for different folks. I guess CBS was too afraid of Trump to keep him on.
Same! Love him.
Despite what that magas on this thread want to believe Colbert is so talented and really does such a great job with all his interviews.
Then why was his show not profitable?
It was profitable.
You have no idea what you are talking about!
This is not a hard concept state media no
First amendment rights hello republican idiots thanks for getting us to North Korea
It’s easy to find plenty of links that talk about how it has been losing roughly $40 million per year at this point. If I weren’t driving right now, I would post some.
I have not seen anything that counters these assertions.
Why cancel now? CBS had ample opportunity to do so. Why now? Because of the merger. Trump can’t handle his feelings being hurt.
They didn't "cancel" the show this week.
He will get to finish his contract. They simply are not renewing the contract
+1 It's not like they fired Colbert and replaced him with another $15M host. There hasn't been any evidence that would lead a reasonable person to determine that CBS decided not to renew this money-hemorrhaging show (in advance of a merger when they're trying to decrease the expenses column) due to Trump.
Not for the first time in this thread, then why did they announce it when they did?
Also not for the first time in tis thread: Because his contract is up next year and they're giving him advanced warning and letting him finish the contract term (which is a benefit to Colbert). Plus he announced it.
It’s smart to let the show continue until his contract is over because some people who never watched before will tune in out of curiosity. When they see this un-funny condescending loser they will understand why he got canceled.

It would be nice if the morning news shows were actually news instead of a two hour “Entertainment This Morning”.

Or you could just let local news affiliates do 60 min of local news and the ratings will stay the same, while CBS pockets the over $100M this corny ass "comedy" show blows a year.

That would be a smart business move since Republicans are underserved in media and entertainment. That's why independent podcasters are now mega celebrities- they have been the only consistent broadcasters for half the country.
The "liberal white man railing at everyone" market is completely saturated. Way too much supply and not enough demand.

Huge demand for that, especially from the demographic. The yoogest.
