WTF???

This would be only slightly larger than typical. Michigan last year offered 24k a spot on the waitlist.

What we all would like to know from the PP is whether that is mere speculation.

Thx!

Please explain what sort of source you have for this number. It's believable, but I would prefer to know if it was made up by someone speculating or whether this came from admissions.

thx! where did you hear this? Is 1300 the number of open spots or number of offers they anticipate making to fill XX number of open spots?

(asking because I bet the Michigan yield for waitlist offers is probably 50%)

DP. Last year, Michigan took just under 1000 total, so 1300 sounds plausible, though I too would like to know where the PP heard this or whether this is just wild speculation.

My two cents: I would highly doubt that Michigan has a yield of 50% from the waitlist, though waitlist yield (# accepted off the WL who actually enroll) is not published. Financial aid availability for OOS may be even more limited, etc.

Both schools admitted more students this year—150 for Stanford and 100 for Yale so maybe they miscalculated yield.

Stanford is expanding the freshman class by 150 this year, so not just more admits but more spots in the class.

Sorry, yes, that’s what I meant to say. Both expanding freshman classes.
