Let's pretend the child had diabetes. What is your next step, after obtaining that information? I'm genuinely confused about why you need this information.

I know that part. But I'm baffled about why they need to know this particular child's preexisting conditions. The MMR vaccine could have prevented the death regardless of preexisting conditions. This is a known fact.

If someone has pre-existing conditions and dies from complications of these conditions and happens to test positive for some virus X, this doesn't mean that it's the virus X that caused this person's death. Also, virus X could endanger the health of a person with pre-existing conditions putting them at risk of death, but this doesn't mean that another virus Y (for which there are no vaccinations) or some other health injury isn't going to do the same. In other words MMR would reduce the risk of this person dying (from these diseases specifically), but would not prevent this person from dying of many other causes.

In fact, testing positive for Measles doesn't preclude there wasn't another virus or bacterial infection present that contributed or even started the chain of events that led to the person's death.

The fact that so many people are not stupid and are voluntarily vaccinated have allowed for others to have personal freedoms in the public health space that would have been unthinkable a century ago. My grandmother - born in 1911, deceased now - used to tell us the story of coming home from school one day and there was a big red sticker on the door. Her brother had scarlet fever and he was quarantined along with her mother. She couldn't enter the house and had to stay with a neighbor until her brother recovered.


My mom almost died from diphtheria before vaccinations were available; she got me every vaccine she could at the time. I unfortunately was a child before we had mumps and chicken pox vaccines, and I was hospitalized with the chicken pox because it invaded my lungs.

People seem to want to go back to the "bad old days" when significant numbers of children died.

I'm not the anti-vax PP you were responding to but I came to this thread to figure out why I'm seeing people online talk about this child who died.

They seem to be saying the child who died of measles, actually was hospitalized with RSV AND Pneumonia as well and then picked up measles in the hospital.

Anyhow - that's what is going around the anti-vax, measles isn't that big a deal TikTok world - the child had "pre existing conditions" of RSV and Pneumonio, and then acquired measles while in the hospital. So they didn't die "of measles".

Because a sick child in the hospital should not be getting measles - which could kill him in his weakened state. That's exactly why you vaccinate your kids - so if they are sick with other things, vaccine preventable diseases don't kill them.


Searched google filtered by the past week for the RSV/measles piece and yes it appears to be random bot accounts commenting on things. Found one who purports to be a nurse but is also listed as a digital creator and a separate account for the same person on threads was posting other random antivax stuff. Basically, astroturfing the fake info then others see the comments and think the person is legit.

So, in sum, evidence of how stupid our society is to literally just believe unverified sh*t on the internet.

I think you are trolling and doing the whole "died WITH Covid" as opposed to "died OF Covid."

This child died OF the measles. The woman in 2015 also died OF measles. The point people are making is that if these people had not contracted the virus, they would not have died when they did.


This and also if the measles is completely unrelated, if would not be on the death certificate. I reported deaths during COVID and the health dept reviewed each case to determine true cause of death. They would literally call the hospital if they received record of a patient with recent COVID positive test dying and request the narrative death summary. If health authorities are saying the kid died of measles, they effing died of measles.
