I guess national youth and senior teams selections is heavy politics in every other country but ours

Does all MLS Clubs and Academies have equal representation in USYNT and USMNT?

It's political everywhere. There is definitely not equal representation. But what you can see are trends. DMV is not trending toward being the locale of the national team players. Men's team or youth teams..

"trending" is a thing for youth national teams?
Which one area has vast representation of usynt and usmnt players trending?

Philly, New York metro and LA

Oh, those small regions

Pretty sure Wash DC metro is bigger than Philly metro...

Yes, but barely. Atlanta, DC, Philadelphia, Miami all effectively the same size as the 6th-9th largest in the US.

Point is DMV is lagging behind metro areas with less population. Which signals a weakening talent pool

Based on what?

I've only heard of a few local kids going to Europe (Yow, who is not really a kid any longer though). This makes it sound like there are dozens. Who are all these DMV kids?

google is your friend

DCUA has produced only two kids that were on an actual youth national team (ie where they earned a cap) in the last 5 years. No local DMV club has put any player on any youth national team at any age on the boys side in the last five years and after the DA was dissolved. Google that...

They said kids from the DMV have gone to clubs in Europe, gone to MLS Academies and to D1 colleges

Why are you responding about DCUA and National Teams?

Someone asked how the talent pool has weakened recently compared to other years.

No youth national team players from local clubs and only two from the MLS academy in our area in the last 5 years is pretty strong evidence of a weaker player pool. In years past, the DMV was putting players on the youth national teams pretty consistently.

Put up the chart year by year before 5 years ago that shows all the youth players from the DMV going to USYNTs, D1 colleges and joining European clubs

Then a chart of past 5 years.

If you can't do that, you're just talking out the side of your neck.

Prove the statements wrong. Pretty simple.

11 MLS Clubs out of 28 are represented but DCUA with 2 players is the worst academy in the country?

The statements are obviously tainted.

Unless your kid made the USYNT, you probably shouldn't be looking down on anyone

Disagree. Can absolutely look down on an entire system that is failing our kids. As anyone would.

And two is pushing it considering one of the players you're counting didn't spend one second in DCUs academy.

The actual discussion is around DMV talent going down over the past 5 years compared to before

It wasn't an invitation to the usual suspect to start his DC United Academy bashing and axe grinding.
What did your therapist recommend?

That is one age group. The current u17s have most players from ny, Philly and la regions. None from DMV.

If anything the u20 roster shows that the MLS system is taking a back seat to European talent that have US eligibility or US talent that has moved overseas.

Any way you slice it, DCU is not it.

Selections to usynt and usmnt has been established as heavily political a long time ago.

Also, you're a part of DMV soccer.
So, if DMV soccer sucks

Agreed. Usynt selections are definitely political. Also means that the politics in the DMV and political connections to the soccer establishment in the US are weak and/or aging out in our area. Old connections to US soccer from older coaches and administrators are running their course and new people are making decisions are US Soccer. Also bad for DMV.

No one said soccer in the DMV sucks. It's still a decent area to learn the game.
Just that it is not what it once was not because the DMV has gotten worse, it is because other regions have caught up to the DMV and are doing better in youth development.
