The problem is that they are now taking a lowest common denominator approach. Everyone gets the same thing in school, and it is watered down. Furthermore, we keep talking about the disparities, but not the root causes of the disparities. If he's hoping to address these disparities "immediately," Taylor needs to be clear-eyed and explicit about what he's addressing. The disparate academic outcomes are the symptoms, what, specifically, does he believe to be the problems and their underlying root causes that HE is going to address?

It also doesn't help when admin gives teachers a hard time by pushing for falsely inflated data when we didn't learn how to fraud numbers in college. I have no idea how to do it and kids know their teachers are being destroyed bc the admin wants fake numbers.

He’s all talk. Bcc was a hot mess way back when and had lots of race and other issues. He misuse have stayed in his bubble and not seen it.

It’s only surprising for folks who believe more progress has been made in society than is reality.

Just like folks think the Civil Rights movement is some long ago history and yet many of the folks who lived through it are just grandparents.

I agree with you that it's a little odd for him to be as "surprised" as he is, but I thought the rest of his answer was decent.
