There is nothing I have seen anywhere to suggest Trump is a good debater or comes out of these looking better than before he started. And that was before the debacle of 2020.
I'm worried the rules this time will make Trump seem less insane. Turning off his mic when it's not his time to speak, specifically.

It's being talked about a lot. Because he keeps making weird statements that signal he's not really very comfortable with the debate. And we know that the Coward Trump doesn't do anything that makes him uncomfortable. He might bow out claiming bone spurs in fact. Sir, many people are saying it.

Beats me. One or several posters keeps claiming Trump will not show up to the debate, and Trump has always been eager to debate. If he’s a no show it will be because he is stopped from getting to the venue.
If he is so eager to debate, why is he making so many excuses now as to why he has already lost?
Too little too late but he needs to manage expectations. It is one thing to blab on with untruths about his opponent at a campaign rally. But now he has to get up on a stage and debate Biden for 90 minutes and much of his BS is going to be exposed as BS.

I just turned 78, and frankly I’m scared about what might come down on Thursday evening when the oldest candidates ever to compete in a presidential race debate each other.
I’m less worried that Joe Biden will suffer a mental lapse or physically stumble than I am that Biden will look weak and Donald Trump appear strong.
One of Trump’s most successful ploys has been to frame the upcoming election as a contest between strength and weakness, and to convince many Americans that stridency and pugnacity are signs of strength while truth and humility signal weakness.

No one is "insisting" that Trump won't show. It just seems like there is a non-zero chance of it. He's a big stupid baby who bails out of anything hard. So if he feels like it isn't going to do well - yeah, I think many of us think he'll just declare debate bankruptcy.

Maybe some Democrats are insisting, but I mostly see people saying that there’s a big chance that Trump won’t show. He’s not what is called a “reliable” guy.
