APE person won't even let a parent be proud of their 6 year old's art project because it doesn't fit into their talking points. Weird flex.
This is such a a bizarre take. Do you always twist what people say into something unrecognizable? Fox news probably has openings.
To the person who questioned why I would bring up Fox News and APE. I side-eye anyone who appears on FoxNews, and I've seen actual Arlington APE parents being interviewed there.
Well, the opinion of someone who watches Fox News surely convinces me.
This is a stupid argument. One needs to be informed, even about misinformation. So yes, I monitor RWNJ sources. Including APE for the next outrage du jour.
I really don't think being informed about misinformation really requires intentionally tuning in to Fox News to see who appears and hear what they're saying. I certainly don't, but believe I'm pretty aware of a lot of the "alternative facts" and conspiracy theories. I surely know the gist and don't need to watch FOX at all just to hear more details and rants.
I disagree. It’s important to hear the propaganda crazy for yourself instead of being fed X-Twitter bytes by commentators and influencers so that you know what you’re up against and can counter the messaging. The other side does it so well, using our words against us.
I don't do "X" or other "influencer" sources. I read credible news sources, I talk to people, I listen to credible news sources on the radio. I don't need to listen to FOX.
Cool. I do the same. And tune in to Fox. Because of that, I know that APE members have appeared there and on other RW sources. You can't be a "Democrat" and spout RW talking points. Sorry not sorry.
We have to talk about APE because they spend so much energy and hot air disrupting anything public education in Arlington.
Ha ha ha that APE is “disrupting education in Arlington” when they were the ones who wanted it NOT disrupted during Covid.
Anyway, I have no love for APE, but tech in classrooms has gotten waaaay out of hand. I don’t care who the messenger is— we need less tech in ES, and now. In a few years there will be a reckoning where everyone realizes what a mistake it was to overuse the iPads & give a bunch of little kids internet access all day long. But it sucks for our kids in school right now.
The reckoning is already happening. Every mainstream media source has stories against the overuse of iPads and Ed tech.
The media that APE feeds into.

Then stop talking about "learning loss".

If you don't want your child to use iPads in K-2, opt out. Easy. Done. Don't let them use it at home like I do.
But don't force a nonissue on everyone else. I like the 1:1 policy.

APE members have appeared on Fox News. Another reason not to trust them.
Who cares?!? Is this even true?!?! It's certainly not relevant.
I'm not a part of APE and often disagree with them, but think this is mostly a good suggestion. Are you objecting just because the thread title has APE in it or can you think for yourself?
This is it, absolutely. It's an APE position. Therefore, 'MUST. PUSH. BACK. MUST. BE. WRONG.' Only "thinking" that's needed: What is the opposite of what SPE is promoting?
APE does not help themselves by going on Fox news. But no I don't trust APE at all. They have opinions based on half baked research that is cherry picked to support their narrative. That's not how ed policy should be made. They have no place in the debate.
Oh good, another person posting anonymously on DCUM that they hate APE. Both surprising and scintillating. Please post more about your hated. I had no idea.
Seriously, I'm not part of APE and often disagree with them, but these posts are so annoying. Give it up. No one cares if random person on the Internet hates APE. It's not news or interesting.
“I can do this all day.”
You are free to skip all the APE threads. The rest of us who hate what they are doing to APS will continue to discuss their actions.
In other words, leave DCUM? Because you bring APE into every single thread. Rather than telling the rest of us to just skip the threads, perhaps all the APE-haters can start their own chat group and stop directing every OP into an APE discussion. Many of us non-APE supporters are sick of it and should be able to read other people's questions and comments and make our own contributions to topics without it going "APE."
Did you notice the title of this thread?
As soon as APE stops attacking APS I’ll stop commenting on their actions.
Doesn't matter the title of a thread. "You" (obsessed with APE people) insert APE into every one regardless of the title or topic or question posed.
Even this thread could/should have been more of a discussion about APE's position/advocacy regarding tech, rather than a continuing diatribe against APE itself and pushback against its tech statements no matter what the statements are, merely because they came from APE.
