I could be more deliberate about deciding I'm through with a book and returning it straight away. But also . . . libraries are there to be used. They're a public good. Instead of going to the library and reading two chapters before heading to check out, I do it this way.

Funny. I ALSO work in the petroleum industry and I say it's fine.
I turn my car off when pumping gas, but I don’t see the harm in leaving the engine running. Isn’t the biggest “danger” when you start the car, when there is a spark?

I purchase vacuum cleaners, dresses for black tie events, mops with washable cloths for one time use and return them. Anytime I need to deep clean or go to a special event - I purchase the item- use it and return it.
