That's not how that works. She is a public figure. You don't need to "do something" to a comedian -- they are allowed to make jokes about you.

I thought he was spot on. It captured everything I've felt since Oprah but it wasn't PC to say at the time. Chris can say it and he did. We're not all so naive to believe her ridiculous narrative.

+1. She (and Harry) have put themselves out there as opening the eyes of the world to the racism of the British Royal Family (though Harry kind of backpedaled on all that in an interview). Her narrative that she didn't realize the Briitish royal family is racist is strange. I like Harry and Meghan by the way. I just think that some of what they have said is ridiculous and that is the s*** Chris Rock pointed out.

It's comedy. It's either funny to you or not. You don't get to tell comedians what they should or shouldn't say. If we start censoring comedians, then it really isn't comedy anymore. As long as they aren't inciting violence, IMO everything goes.

It seemed sexist and anti-light skinned black to me. He said nothing about Harry.

He's calling out the existence of colorism. She herself admits she was not subject to racism in the US due to her skin tone.

He didn't reference Harry but he did say the BRF is racist. He's part of that "OGs of racism" barb. So he's not picking on her exclusively. Just pointing out the BS on both sides.

I agree that Will Smith is a big fool and was stupid but do not call CR beloved. He hates women. I'm not the poster who has been arguing this.

He’s beloved by plenty of women. Fans, and fellow comics who are women.
Yep, I saw him on stage within the past year and lots of women were there. He’s a comedian.

Well, men in jail for murdering their wives also get fan mail from women. So the fact that many women like him means nothing.

I found his Elon Musk joke to be disrespectful of women (like we are all lined up to give a bl*w job to any man with cash).

That is probably a function of his divorce. Or, to be honest, he has likely been influenced by the behavior of (many of the) women that rich, famous men encounter in the course of their careers. (I saw this during a phase of my life in which I spent time with professional athletes).

I am not condoning his lack of respect for women, but trying to understand how he turned out this way.

He has been very angry about him making a fortune from comedy and her getting half (or whatever) of it just from being married to him, raising the kids etc. He has joked about this, and I can see this attitude carrying over to other women in his comedy.

Yeah well he has made sexual assault jokes and judgy abortion jokes that make light of reasons why women may need abortions …
You are making this country afraid to open it’s mouth. I’m a white democrat liberal but there isn’t a damn thing a comedian can say on stage that will offend me.

+1

Your casual dismissal of the insidious ways misogyny hurts women in real time is making women afraid to live life. Half of American women of all races have lost fundamental human rights and it is life or death for many of us.

Yup. And he went easy on her by pointing out the BRFs history of colonialism - but as the “that’s just in-law shit” got a lot of laughs I think a lot of folks are good and comfortable now seeing Harry’s wife as the liar she is. Poor lady! South Park, this….she’s just a sweet innocent victim of…something.

Dummy, you’re on a thread about a comedy special that premiered fewer than 48 hours ago. Go hit up an Ozempic thread, do something useful for yourself.

More woman hating incel love here. We all know you and could tell you things about yourself...

Wrong on all counts. I wish you luck as you try (and fail) to find a partner and develop your life. Fantasizing about closeted dudes who attack third-parties out of an ill-conceived attachment to a cheating, mean-spirited partner is not the look. But you can cling to it like a blanket, Linus-style, for lack of something real.

You're an ass. I don't support Will or his wife. They are all horrible people. I won't let you like and make CR out to be some wonderful person because he got slapped. The person upthread who referred to him as "beloved" clearly has brain damage. He hates women. He doesn't support a woman's right to choose despite his words. He is obsessed with Jada. This is all sick.
Im pro choice, a Democratic trump hating voter and you are insufferable. You actually hate everyone that’s pro-life? It’s a different philosophy but it doesn’t mean they hate women. I see why liberals make conservatives want to throw up.

So glad his wife got away from him.

Sigh, you do know that not every anecdote comedians share is actually true don't you? Usually they take a germ of something and add hyperbole. I know a comic who does a brilliant bit about sleeping with a homeless man, she never slept with a homeless man.

I would like to think the daughter story was fake, because hearing about it like this would be messed up. On the other hand, it didn’t seem to me like Rock telling the school to expel her made any difference. The other girls all had lawyers and they were all expelled too. Seems like it would have gone that way anyway. Regardless, he should have kept that story to himself, especially since it sounds like his daughter learned her lesson.
