My favorite was the poster that said poor people shouldn't travel. I think DC moms are winning the title for sh!ttiest people.
In general, people shouldn't do things they can't afford.
Even poor people want to travel to see loved ones once in a while. You don't know if someone is traveling to see their terminally ill relative.
Have some humanity and just shut up already.
Being transported to your destination when you purchase a ticket actually is an entitlement.
We want lots of things we can't afford. That's just life. People who spend money they don't have is a big part of the problem in this country.

Think I should even try to take the Thursday sw flight? Or just cancel it now and take the Friday flight. It’s an early morning flight and I’m solo with a toddler so I’d hate to get to sea and have it cancel then, which is what happened to us on Sunday. Ughhh I just want to get home!
I would assume.the Thursday SW flight will be cancelled. They probably won't be flying a near normal schedule until Sunday/Monday.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Sigh.
As of Wednesday morning, they have cancelled 58% of their flights on Thursday. Seems pretty likely your flight is not going. I would take the United flight on Friday.
You could make a game time decision on Thursday if it’s not too stressful with a toddler.

I don't know if you were referring to my post, but I said that when making a travel budget people should account for things not going perfectly and at least have some sort of contingency budget for a couple of day or to allow flexibility. I am not going to dictate what someone does with their money, or say that poor people shouldn't travel. Delays, hiccups, broken reservations are all thing that happen when people are traveling, and aren't typically remedied immediately.

What makes me so sad is hearing the stories of people traveling to see family members for the first time in years. Don't forget that many people put off traveling the last two holiday seasons, making it less likely that they would cancel or postpone traveling this year. Life is short and time with loved ones is something people at all income levels need and deserve.

It cannot be that in the “wealthiest” nation on earth one of the six private air carriers can go down like this leaving people stranded across the country until Thursday / Friday at the earliest.
It's about 2,300 miles from DC to LA as the crow flies. The fastest high-speed trains under consideration in the US go about 130mph, so assuming no stop, no mountains, and a direct path from DC to LA, will anyone sit on a train for 18 hours?
Yes they would, especially if the airline they booked through cancels their flight on Monday, won’t answer phones, and can’t rebook you on another flight until FRIDAY.
I would. We are spoiled in our time frames because of airplanes. This is still faster than driving and I could get some sleep, watch movies, etc. I used to take trains all over Europe and it’s wonderful rhythm once you get into it. And you don’t have to sit! You can get up and walk around far more freely than on an airplane.

What time is your flight?
Check flightaware.com to see where your plane is right now.
You will need a plane, pilots, and flight attendants to fly. You can check on at least one of those now.
Good advice. The plane from the previous destination is in the air. It left on time. But our same flight yesterday was delayed 4.5 hours. My flight is at 1. Heading to airport soon.
