Two of my kids got into UVA but chose not to go since it was their safety.

They were worried about their safety because of the lax gun laws?

PP is trilling or kids were very foolish. Also the shootings just happened

CONGRATS! Very exciting for your DC.

Congratulations to your kid! If you have a minute to help another curious parent - When you say 11 APs here, is it 11 by Junior year, or are you counting Senior year, too?

I’m the pp whose child got in with 11 APs. 11 APs include senior year APs. I could be wrong but I think UVA is looking for more well rounded than pointy kids.

I wouldn't say well rounded. I would say interesting kids with good stats. A good story, something unique, as well as an impressive transcript.

That actually sounds like the description of a "well rounded" student.

If you think that is well rounded , then you prob don’t have a kid that got in recently.

DP. I am not sure what you are getting at.

They are probably hinting at the fact that, statistically, it’s gotten impossible for some kids to get in but UVA still tries to find well rounded students who also have a 4.47 gpa and a 35 ACT

I’m sorry but this is just plain sad. Are you serious?

No. It's a public university. I don't want my taxdollars paying for frou-frou to accepted students from all 33 public universities and colleges in the Commonwealth.

Someone asked if my daughter, who is doing a gap year and now going to UVA in Fall 2027, applied last year. No, she applied ED this fall. She is white, not first generation college or anything like that, so from what I've read here, based on her GPA (and SATs) I was SUPER pessimistic about acceptance. I thought I'd post just so parents/students with stats similar to my daughter's might have some hope. College admissions is SO stressful. I would say much less stressful when not in the pressure cooker of still being in high school, but still nerve-wracking. I'm depressed by how hard it is for VA students to get into UVA these days.

Last year, it was a booklet with stickers for the student in a big envelope and then a different booklet came for "the parents of" in a smaller envelope.

It will be January. My kid got his around end of January LOL. it included like two stickers. This is a public u, they are not wasting money on extravagances.

Your kid can expect some stickers, that's about it.

She is in a gap year, which I think may have helped.

Did she apply last year? Also, congrats to her!
