BS. He had a choice. And he chose to fight FOR slavery.
If you read his stances, he never supported slavery. He initially wanted to fight for the Union under Lincoln, but couldn’t fight his own brothers and sisters and his home state. Oh and nice deviation from my proposal about Washington and Jefferson, I guess you get to pick and choose the racists.![]()
Washington freed his slaves.
Jefferson is a POS but he also didn't directly fight against our country.
Lee supported slavery so much so that he killed 600k Americans trying to protect it. If he didn't want to "fight his brothers and state" then he could have abstained from the war. Nope. He chose to actively defend slavery.
No. Jefferson was a great man, a genius, and made this country, as well as the other countries who have taken this country as a model.
As for Washington freeing his slaves, well, he didn't. But it was a very difficult thing to do at that time, the laws were intentionally made that way.

So just because he freed his slaves makes his stance on race less evil? Lee wrote about the evils of slavery in his will. According to PPs’ posts, once a racist always a racists. Just because he didn’t fight his own country makes his acts against his slaves permissible? There is no justifiable reason behind wanting to minimize one but keep the others.
