We live in the biggest target in the country.
You all will be as surprised as residents of Tokyo were in April of 1942 when American B-25’s dropped bombs on their city, when Russian sub-launched hypersonic (hopefully conventional ones, not nukes) missiles start dropping on various places in the DC area.
We’re not isolated here. This war, it happens, has the potential to be right in our front yards.

Bcs Putin knows he can. He is doing it in winter. You all think you can beat Russians in winter? LOL.
West is scared of covid... yes, still scared of it.
Russia will cut off Europe's gas supply. In winter, you get that, right?
Russia has the support of Germany and Germany is the EU now. How do you like them apples, U.K?
Russia needs to secure the gas lines, for its own economy. Putin needs to show strength to the Russian people.
Don't get me wrong, I don't want anyone to be invaded, I do not want a war. But, the reality in Europe has been that every time Germany is on the rise, as it has been and as Brexit made it even more so, conflict happens in Europe.
I hope I am wrong.

It’s a really pretty country and St. Petersburg is nicer than any American city.
Russian upper middle class have good taste - into chess, classical music, well read, multi lingual.

Probably within 2 days.
Why do you think that? My current thinking is that nothing will happen. That the Russian troops will go home but the supplies stay in place and they declare some sort of Olympic truce.
It will have to wait until the amphibious fleet has entered the Black Sea. After that, could be any time. Wait for pics of the Russian fleet clearing the Bosporus. I say 3-4 days after that, it’ll start.
It's the middle of winter and the ground is covered with snow. The satellite imagery shows that most of the new forward bases Russia has staged near the Ukraine border have a lot of extra vehicles and tents but the reality of the tents and vehicles is that the snow betrays the fact that most of the tents are currently unoccupied and most of the vehicles are just sitting idle.
