Apart from possibly Churchill, are there any public schools in moCo or Va suburbs that would be able to hold its own with a private school Team?

Calvert Hall had a weaker strength of schedule than Landon last year and what really hurt them was a bad loss to Conestoga out of Philadelphia and ass kicking from Malvern Prep (who didn't even win their league)

The Bears had more top 25 wins than Calvert Hall. (Bullis twice, Brunswick, and St. Ignatius)

Buhahaha. National Champions - that's funny. There's no such thing, but if there were one, it would have been Calvert Hall. Best team I've ever seen play.

This. And even the old rule (well, no rule) that allowed contacts and early verbals was misleading. There were plenty of kids who were tearing it up in middle school and had early commits Freshman year but then faded by sophomore/junior year. Once the season starts players, coaches and even lax dads will have an idea of what's what.

Also hard to tell who will have an impact until the season actually starts.

I'd rather go to an excellent D3 school and play rather than sit on the bench at any D1 school, including Ivies. D3 is the way D1 used to be 50 years ago, where sports and academics and social life were all balanced. D1 Athletics now is just a time-consuming grind. Check for yourself the difference in the composition of rosters over a four-year period. The attrition rate on D1 rosters is enormous because the kids are unhappy. D3 lacrosse rosters stay relatively intact over four years.

Not one of the "DELETE THIS THREAD" people. Actually I don't think this thread needs to be deleted. All lacrosse discussions are relegated to this thread and any subsequent lax threads are deleted or locked.

However, I do want to comment that this thread truly illuminates the type of parent in the lacrosse world. It is sickening and I feel sorry for the boys who are being raised by these horrible people who trash other kids and other schools by calling them "garbage" or "second rate". Also, the obsession they have with other teams (other than their own son's) is truly worrisome. The tone of many of these messages is mean spirited.

My son attends one of the schools mentioned here quite often. He knows many of these boys who play lacrosse. For the most part, he sees them in the classes he takes which are "easier." The non honors or AP classes tend to be filled with lax players. He cringes when he is put in a group project with these kids because they are lazy and have an obscene sense of entitlement. He ends up doing most of the work for the group project because otherwise they would get a horrible grade. He tells me that most of these kids are not even good lax players. He tells me that the ones who are actually good players are the ones who tend to be decent kids...polite and good students.

My take on this is that the kids who are jerks are learning this behavior from their parents (the ones who post here often). It's sad because this behavior will not serve them well in the future.
