If an entire region as big as DC can't field more than 1 team, the fact that there are "split" teams isn't the problem.

But I would love to know how the "competitiveness of the region" gets elevated by having one "All-Star" club team? Maybe they'd be able sell tickets to their club games on DE/MD summer turf and have younger girls dreaming of being on that turf? And hitting the wall?
