Do we have any pride left when Philly is plucking talent out of our backyard?

Richmond is outside of DCU homegrown territory. Assuming he lived around Richmond, he didn’t reside in any MLS homegrown territory and was free to go to whatever MLS academy he wanted at any age and without restriction.

I get your point though.

NP here. Philly Union I believe sets up kids with host families if they are not local so it is a "residential" program which DCU does not do. I do know of kids from Virginia Beach and Yorktown who played for DCU but one of their parents ended up moving to NOVA with them. Philly is also considered a much better program than DCU.

There are a bunch of kids south of NOVA that are in residential programs at other academy teams.

Folks I know in Richmond are die-hard Commanders fans. Not Panthers or Eagles. Let’s not confuse MLS Next rules when the reality that all of VA should be coming into DCU.

They hired a real football coach. So what? Isn't that what they are supposed to do?? This is why DCU is a sh@t organization. Its own fan base is happy when they do something that is just normal course of business for any other club. It will take this guy less than a season to realize he is dealing with complete idiots in the organization. But he is a legit coach, or at least he has legit credentials. A step in the right direction. Not holding my breath though...DCU is desperate.

Hearing he left, things are a mess and getting worse

So basically the academy has no leadership at the moment and the first team has a coach that has never coached men before, has never coached even on the collegiate level and has never even been an assistant coach on a mens team??? Can't make this stuff up. Now the first team is taking Ls just like the academy. DCU is literally an embarrassment.

That's really surprising to see that appointment as interim coach. Reading his bio, Flanagan does have a season as a college assistant at U of N FL. Wow. Ton of youth experience and academy experience but not really any of the senior side.

Just torpedoed the academy since he only arrive in February. What a mess.
