No, it's more like I like Che when they are being a good friend but not when they are being a selfish, immature significant other.

Do you remember when Carrie cheated on Aiden with Big and everyone pretty much hated her that season also? Similar situation, only viewers had years with Carrie to establish affection for her character before she pulled that BS. The show introduced Che and then immediately through them into a relationship with Miranda that was highly problematic from the start. Of course people hated Che.

I don't agree -- I actually like Miranda more in this episode and felt for her when she went through the double breakup. It was cathartic to watch Steve call her out, but wow did he cross a line with the Brady comment (and knew it) and I really felt for Miranda in that moment. It's clear that her son is hugely important to her and telling a mother who loves her child but is trying to rediscover herself after giving the last 20 year to that child that she "didn't want" that child is just... it's horrible. I'm glad Steve didn't let her leave after that and they kept talking.

I think the deal with Che is that they are a pretty terrible romantic partner. They are selfish, immature, and can be super condescending and confrontational. It's a horrible combination in a relationship but it was especially bad in the relationship with Miranda, who was new to queer relationships and very much in learning mode and allowed Che to get away with a lot more of this bad behavior than I think she would have let a man get away with back when she was dating men. Miranda was just grateful, and it was gross to watch her be so grateful and loving towards someone so selfish and immature.

But I think Che as just a character, as Carrie's friend and a somewhat peripheral member of this social circle, renders their flaws a lot more tolerably. Che can be self-involved about losing their sitcom and their professional situation and, because they aren't taking it out on one of the main characters who is just taking it happily, it's not as grating. It's just a storyline.

I was so relieved when they broke up. I am fine with Che sticking around and might even come to like that character now, but I'm thrilled not to have to watch the Che-Miranda dynamic which just seemed toxic and awful.

I'm sure her name is the only one on the mortgage because adding Steve to the mortgage would have offered no benefits and potential been a liability because he'd already started the bar with Aiden at that point and might have had major debts associated with that (plus it might not have been profitable yet). To say it was "dumb" for her to put herself in that position makes it sound like there was any way for her to buy the house in Brooklyn with Steve as a full contributor on the mortgage, which is unlikely. This is how it works when you marry someone who makes waaaaaaay less money than you do.

It's easier/less paperwork to have one person on the mortgage if the other person's income isn't being used to qualify for the loan. I'm assuming lots of married people have done this-- we've done it for investment properties-- and it's not a crisis or even much of a problem. As a practical matter, if there were a divorce, you'd have to refinance or sell anyway.

Legally, It doesn't really matter. The house was bought after they married, and most of it's value at this point is likely in acquired equity, both from the improvements Steve made and also from market appreciation. Say the house cost $600k when they bought it back in the early 00s. It would now be worth at least $2m. Well that $1.4m in equity would be as much Steve's as Miranda's. He's the one who put in the sweat equity to upgrade it, plus it was his idea to buy in Brooklyn in the first place (notably, Miranda's 1 bedroom in Manhattan would not have appreciated as much and also offered far fewer opportunities for improvements, plus would have come with likely a hefty condo fee). So even if you argue that Miranda's ability to pay the mortgage makes the original value of the house more "hers," Steve's contributions are not insignificant and could be seen as far more important in terms of the acquired equity.

(I checked and NY is apparently no longer a community property state, in which case it would be 50% Steve's no matter what, but does have a rule for "equitable distribution of the assets" in divorce, and the factors I just mentioned would be relevant in a determination of equitable distribution -- I think a judge would likely grant Steve 50% of the value of the house even if the deed was in Miranda's name alone).
