They are only testing it for the middle school ages, not high school. It’s an experiment that even they admit might not work.
You know it won’t work. Clubs are about money and winning games, nothing else. They dont care about developing players.

The favorite players who play the entire game have parents talk negatively about players behind their backs. Then the favorite players parents go to the coach and make suggestions. The process is effective to eliminate the worst players. The coaches already know who the bad players are so it's just confirming what they already know. Unfortunately, this doesn't work very well for player development. The MLS next program just announced a new method for ranking teams. Hopefully the ga will implement something similar to make sure it really is about development.
