Great point! All these teams are above the surface (top 5 to 10%) -- Oakton, Madison, Battlefield, Woodson, Robinson, West Potomac, South Lakes, Langley, Yorktown, and West Springfield. Colgan is right up there emerging in sight and better than many thought.
Oh look this donkey is back. Colgan? Just shows you don't have a clue.
Colgan not going to win states but still in the upper 15%. Lot of donkey’s underestimated them.
Only team that didn’t was Battlefield who did some serious game film and scouting and will make more game adjustments next re-match. Not taking them lightly like others.

You think they will get through Oakton and Madison? I would take the other side of that bet.
I think madison and oakton are definitely the top dogs- but for some reason I think woodson's 2 wins against robo will have them on a high and they will do anything to keep winning.
This is SO true about Woodson. "do anything to keep winning" Last season vs. my daughters team (Oakton,) there was some very shady things going on in the Press Box with the official timekeeper. Slow starting of the clock, to give Woodson some extra time late in the game. I can't believe the person has the audacity to pull a stunt like this , WHEN EVERYONE IN THE STADIUM CAN SEE IT!!!! Pretty blatant. The good news is, it did not affect the outcome of the game, as Oakton won 12-11, but they certainly tried. That's cheating, and the head coach and Athletic Director at Woodson needs to put a stop to it-- we will be watching closely, and the referees will be put on notice.
Has anyone else experienced the unethical shenanigans when playing at Woodson? I heard the horn didn't blow at the table at halftime as time expired vs Robinson. In fact, the word on the street is the horn never sounded. Referees caught on to it. Robolax, can you confirm?
Thanks.
Okay, try to follow me here.... Because Woodson was on attack around the 8m and about to score just before the half, and they did not, even with a couple extra seconds wothout the horn ending the half. The horn is a key piece of the equation: Please pay attention:
as long as the ball is out of the shooters stick before the horn sounds, the goal will count. I can guarantee that, if Robinson was threatening to score in the closing seconds, the home team clock operator would be right on the horn button as it hits :00, ( The horn NEVER sounded to end the half!!!)
To say that he wouldn't be is simply foolish. That's how they do things at "The Pat", right UAO?We don't operate that way at Robo...
Let's hope no unethical shenanigans occur tomorrow night. Big Brother is always watching...
I would not expect the clock or calls to go my way at Woodson in a state playoff game. Too long a history of shady things. Woodson makes up 2-3 goals based off that which is why the line is pick ‘em.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Robinson and Woodson along with Battlefield, Oakton, Madison are elite teams loaded with talent with one of these five most likely winning a State Championship. Any other teams that compete with any of these five and keep it close is a very good public high school team.
It would be like say Boston College is not very good as a D1 team just because they lost by 12 to Northwestern. Really good teams lose games too relative to all levels of play.
I am curious to hear why everyone seems to think Robinson and Woodson are Elite teams? Robinson is without their best player (draw) and best defender. Woodson has a couple good players but can't score and won't keep up with Oakton, Madison or Battlefield. The State Final will be Oakton/Madison winner vs Battlefield. Region C is significantly weaker than Region D, so that doesn't fit the narrative of Elite teams.
Robinson is not an elite team. They don't really have any standout players. Sure they have D1 commits but to what D1 schools?
Robinson and Woodson are in the top 5% of Virginia public schools. They will be competitive (probably an underdog) with both Oakton and Madison. All these top teams are at the tip of the iceberg. 90% of the teams are so far down under the surface and can't compete at the highest level. But all these girls and coaches work just as hard too just don't have the pipeline of talent.
Nice iceberg analogy. Same applies to College lacrosse. Maryland, Stoneybrook, Notre Dame and JMU are great examples of Top 10 elite teams that can compete with the best but once you get below the top 15-20 (all they way down to 123) you have fallen below that line.
