Yes, I'm resurrecting a dead thread.

The AEM moderator has given complete reins to SR leadership. Lawyer Lady is back along with sidekick Ventilation Lady. The moderator even allowed a third SR person start a thread with her permission. I actually agree with some of what they say, but do they have to be so offputting? They post long winded theses as if they are experts, not allowing anyone to get a word in edgewise.

I guess we're back to the Spring. Where's APE when you need them. I'd like some crazy back to balance SR's hand wringing righteousness.

Not that’s the APE group.

And then there is a white supremacist group. And an anti-LGBTQ group too.

Lots of losers.

A lot of overlap between those groups - anti mask, APE, anti CRT, school choice, anti LGBTQ, Trumpers.

It might not be 50% right away, but it will trend in that direction. I enjoy how the Key parents with their $100k+ annual PTA budget try to frame themselves as the poor downtrodden underdogs.

What planet are you living on. The FARM student rate is significantly less at Innovation this year, and gentrification is taking care of the rest. No amount of affordable housing is going to take place of all of the garden apartments razed for multimillion dollar super story apartment and condo buildings.

There was a lot of discussion that the FARM rate for Key would be high and even higher after Queen St project. How do you know the FARM rate for next year, as we haven't had any classes yet and the date used for prediction won't show how many students have been leaving for private etc (and there are a LOT in LV leaving for private)

They are also going to redevelop Marbella in the next 5-10 years, which will add affordable units and kids. I realize there’s nothing I can say to convince the PPs that Innovation is going to be higher FARMs than they think. The student generation rate for those expensive high rises is very low but for affordable housing it’s very high. Check back in 5 years and you will see.

I agree with you. I think they will maybe have to redraw the elementary boundaries by then though, because it will he too many kids for Innovation. It still might end up as a Title I school but I don’t see how it can hold all the kids that will be coming to these new Affordable Housing projects. The County Board also voted to raise the heights that would have been allowed under the original zoning. It’s going to be a lot of kids.

I left AEM late Spring but I sometimes miss it as a bellwether for the crazy.

First of all, being a person of color doesn't mean you haven't internalized the messages of white supremacy.

Also, you are arguing against doing things people aren't doing. No one is saying we can't talk about white guys, just that they need to be fully understood.

Is anyone removing Little House books from libraries? I remember changes that were intended to, again, understand Laura Ingalls Wilder more fully as a product of her time and place, and I think the name of an award was changed.

I also don't see how people can say "It's not fair to judge the Founders by current standards" and say "The Founders were heroes and we must admire and follow them."

I think the current county seal looks like a toothbrush with a big squirt of toothpaste on it.

I love this new type of discourse. White people telling non-white people that they are racist against their own ppl. Most hilarious thing was all the non-white working class that voted for Eric Adams in NYC while the woke affluent white ppl voted for either Garcia or Wiley. Apparently all the POCs that voted for Adams were racist against themselves lol lol.

"POC" isn't a single people. The top PP could be Asian for all we know.

Thanks for educating me on what a POC is. Many of us so called “POC”s find the category offensive since you like lumping us all together as if we are all the same. Now that doesn’t change the fact that an overwhelming number of minorities (specifically working class) voted against the so called progressive candidate in NYC.

So you are an ADOS?

No I’m Latina

Are you seriously trying to argue that Latinas can NEVER be racist?

Huh? When did I say that? Of course Latinos can be racist. However it is humorous when a white person decides to be a spokesperson for a so called person of color whether Black, Asian, Latino, Arab etc. We can speak for ourselves thank you very much.

Do you speak for ADOS?

When did I claim that? I speak for myself and am familiar with my own culture and issues. That’s why I object to the term POC which lumps all ppl of color together as if we are all the same.

So you must not be the PP above who wrote:
“ I am a person of color, so no way can you say that I am racist ”

No I’m not that PP. I was responding to whoever responded to her. I even said “Who cares if PP is Asian.”

Sorry, the top PP speaks for all “POC” - check in with her first. Don’t go “against your own people”.

Hey, I'm the "First of all" poster, I think I created a giant stink with a sloppy "you," which was meant as a general "you," not an address to the first quoted poster. I should have said, "Being a POC doesn't mean someone hasn't internalized the messages of white supremacy."

As long as I'm talking about the importance of carefully chosen words, I would like the poster I responded to show where anyone is advocating for removing "all references to them just because we can." I don't think we've shut down any libraries, have we? Closed bookstores? Is the internet still out there?
