Subject: Prince Philip has died...
According to E! Online, Prince Philip will reportedly be laid to rest at Windsor Castle's Frogmore Gardens.
Just last week, the Royal Family released a picture of Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth enjoying a walk on the grounds of Frogmore House, Windsor. At the time, I saw it as a Pre-Easter photo release but now...do you think they were walking around that place knowing Prince Philip would die any day and start to make plans for where he was to be buried?

Serious question: I have no idea what practices might be normal or ideal given that the pandemic is ongoing. I get that things were done here to honor our losses when Biden became president, but that was a natural transition point, and I’m sure that things will be done in the future as well. In this instance, at what point would you have expected some sort of activity to “honor all the Britons who have died of COVID”? How would you then expect the additional people who die to be honored?
I haven’t given this much thought, but I’ve imagined that at some point, we’ll declare the pandemic over, and then have both mourning rituals and celebrations of some sort.
The mourning period is pretty serious in the UK for a death like this. Parliament can’t pass laws, and I believe businesses have to close for a period of time. There’s no comparison to anything like it in the US. I agree with PP that it feels tone deaf given the amount of deaths due to COVID in the last year.

Except the pandemic is not over - so Phillip and the BRF can wait in line like the rest of the plebes to ‘properly’ mourn.

Prince Phillip apparently only got half his vaccination and with such a long stay in the hospital - I have to wonder if he got Covid. He was there three or four weeks. It would explain the ‘long’ death and why Charles was pictured crying more than a month ago.

That is a good point. And precisely why they can't do anything to make it seem like they're breaking lockdown rules.
But still - there should be a mourning period for the 125,000+ dead in the UK if Phillip gets this.
