I understand blonde envy and that compared to darker hair colors it makes you generally look younger, however I think that formula doesn't work past middle age, where the lighter you go the more washed out you tend to look.
Although I guess it's hard to stop once you are used to yourself always having blonde hair (bottled or otherwise).

Not true in northern and north-eastern Europe. Most people don't have brown hair in that region. Black hair is even harder to find unless a tourist.
Arriving back here after not seeing true black hair for awhile, a friend's black hair looked like it has been colored black.

This look has gotten me occasionally stereotyped as unfriendly by women who later tell me I'm so different than they imagined. Also very much targeted by men in Spain and Latin America for catcalling and unwelcome propositions. That is about it.

I’m not a fan of hers but I’m lol at asking ppl in real life what they think of her looks (who does that?), or thinking she’s just average looking. I mean, do you speak only to super-attractive ppl all day every day?

Agree! I’m also a 50 year old of Mediterranean descent and have noticed the same. I get compliments all the time (and it’s usually from 40-50ish blonde blued-eyed women). They ask for skin care advice but it’s mostly just genes doing the work.


Yep. I also have blue eyes with the benefit of Mediterranean skin that doesn’t crack. I’m thick dark haired with only 3-4 gray hairs as well.

At 52, I’m constantly asked what I use on my skin. No wrinkles and no crepe at knees.

Agree it is astonishing. I am dark hair and very blue eyes. Since turning 50 I’ve gone blonde to hide gray hair. I can’t believe how much attention I get now, particularly from men


There may be a difference, but let me tell you, as a lifelong natural blonde with blue eyes that is not wanted attention a lot of the time. As a young woman who traveled the world alone it felt like an extra target for harassment or worse. Also some of that "attention" you get gets damned uncomfortable if you're not into White Supremacist racists or people who hate their race and are looking to "whiten the line" or who assume you are a slut because of how you look. This by no means compares to actual racism, but there are lessons I would give to women who look like this that might not be immediately apparent because of privilege overall. Over 50 this is not an issue.
