While it was fun for mass media to cite AAA’s 5% haircut to travel from last year and claim 50M people are driving and going about instead of 54M, the TSA data shows the opposite. Significantly empty planes and traffic though airports, albeit a minor uptick from say last month.

Basically pretend you’re in Literature class again reading for facts versus opinion. Circle all the opinions and speculation and projections, then underline any facts. It’s eye opening. All guesses repackaged in headlines and OpEds.

No, I shouldn’t use my own brain. I should not have worn masks on planes and in crowded settings since January then? Or believed that the virus is airborne or that there is asymptomatic transmission? Because TV told me otherwise? I read medical journals and watched Wuhan press conferences. I’m not ashamed. So far I’ve been 100 for 100 on the right decisions on average two months before they became accepted wisdom.

If you would admit that the school has handled this terribly for the past three months, then perhaps we could establish a consensus upon which we could discuss where things should go from here.

I don’t think it has. It focused on high quality DL like it said it would, and further accommodated the parents who wanted HL. We are quite pleased. If anything, we wish there were a care center on campus for whomever needs or wants to be in person to join the DL because I’m sure there are those that need it. I might think differently if Bowser put in place community policies that were then in fact enforced, thus flattening the curve, thus enabling the schools to open. Honestly, people do hold a very different set of views. Look at what the response was to the most recent attempt to pressure. At least the derogatory name-calling of teachers and students on these boards has stopped (that honestly shook me to the core and made me far less sympathetic to the pro-open group)

So you're just arguing for constant and indefinite distance learning until next school year.

What I want is a school that demonstrates it is doing everything it can to enable our kids safely to attend school in person with their classmates and teachers. Just like schools throughout the northeast are doing. The school has the resources, expertise, and networks to make this happen if it wanted to. But they are not even showing that they are trying, and that a safe return is their driving motivation.

Weak administration doesn't have the will or the wherewithal to be creative and think outside the box, and to get teachers on board with their plans.
