It should also be illegal for them to use public services such as public schools if they do not have proof of legal residency. If you make it harder for them to survive here under an illegal status, less will come. These changes don't require tax payer money!

Look at the transcript from yesterday and read any of the dozens of statements Dems have put out. Dems are happy to give money for real border security. But they won’t give one penny for trump’s stupid wall.
Fat Donnie is the reason we can’t have progress on border security.
From what I've read, the Democrats are offering temporary, reversible actions. They are opposed to a permanent solution, like a border wall.
Dems offered a budget that allocated an additional $1.3 billion for border security. That sounds plenty serious to me. But trump’s going to drive us into a ditch because he wants to build a stupid wall.
It's a drop in the bucket, and for what? Additional border agents that Dems will pull back if they get the WH.
Illegal immigration is at its lowest point in decades. Funding for border security has been going up year over year (including during Obama's presidency). ICE has more funding than all other federal law enforcement combined. There comes a point at which paying more for what you already have a lot of has diminishing returns. Maybe we should spend our money on things that actually improve American lives.

Why are Repubs opposed to simple measures like E-verify? And why do they not want penalties for employers who hire illegals? Are they afraid of alienating the farmers who reliably vote GOP? Looks like the GOP is perfectly happy with the status quo of having illegal workers entering.
It certainly does. They seem to want political theater, not a crackdown on businesses and employers who hire all the illegals. Or, propose a usable guest worker system for farmers and agricultural businesses.
+1 million. And didn't Trump promise the Mexicans were going to pay for the wall? Why is he wasting US taxdollars on this boondoggle?

Ever heard of a ladder or tunnels?
How is the Israel wall 99.9% effective in the face of tunnels and ladders?

Because the border wall is the dumbest idea ever. And why blame the Democrats when the GOP had 2 years to make this happen? Total fail.
A wall to make illegal entry more difficult, combined with additional border agents, will be at least somewhat effective.
The wall has to be high enough so the violent ones can't throw rocks over it.
