DP. Because the kids are "higher caliber" -- meaning, there are fewer poor/black/brown kids. Top PP is using "diversity" to mean "poor/black/brown kids". That's not what the word means, though.
In other words, let's not care that our classrooms look like the world and not just the people who "we" have deemed to be "high caliber", "quality" people. Let's ignore the fact that they get that designation according to standards that "we" have set based on things only within our narrow personal experience and according to our own narrow judgement.
When you live your life based on some cherry picked numbers, ignoring the full complexity of the human beings in question, we all lose, especially the purple people.
Ugh no that is what all of YOU are doing any why we can't get past the whole race bs. I want the best kids period. I could care less about how diverse they are and if they are white black brown yellow orange purple.

I could care less about diversity (that's the whole point in my view) I care about results. I care about my kid not being bored and unchallenged while the teachers spends all their time on getting other kids caught up (this happens all the time)
Well, what makes you think that your child will be unchallenged at a diverse school? Case in point, my child goes to a diverse elementary school and is in compacted math (a separate classroom with other kids at her level). From what I'm seeing here in DCUM, even some schools such as College Gardens (a less diverse school) don't offer this type of differentiation. I really think it would serve people well to do a deep dive of the school and really look at everything- how are classes structured, are kids getting challenged appropriately, etc. You can't assume that just because the school is diverse, that your child isn't going to be challenged there.

There are those proverbial orange and purple people again.
PP, there are no orange and purple people. What you're saying is that you want your kid to go to school with kids from families like yours, because you think that maximizes the chances that your kid will be able to achieve the specific life goals you want for your kid (fancy-name college, followed by a job that pays a lot of money). That's a very small view of a very big world, but if it's yours, then it's yours.

Higher test scores means you are more intelligent or just do better on tests?
Elite colleges = a college someone else has determined to be "elite", when in all actuality a lot of people have attended other schools and have received great educations that have served as a wonderful jumping off point for their lives and careers
Home values = what people are willing to pay it's not something etched in stone by God. People's willingness to do anything, including buy a home for a certain price, are influenced by a lot of things, including their bias, good intentions, bad intentions, mindsets and whims. All of these are factors that can change on a dime.
