Glenn Thrush - the other reporter who got into it with Miller - went to Brooklyn College!

Stormfront.org, a popular website among white supremacists that boasts the tagline, “Every month is White history month,” has a numerous discussion threads on the topic, including one titled, “Give Me Your Huddled Masses?—?The Jewess who tried to destroy the US!” Contributors to the forum wrote the poem should be “considered graffiti” and stress that Lazarus’ sonnet is “not part of the original” statue at all.

This is comical at best...

- Miller speaks and the White Supremacists tweet doesn't equate to Miller being a White Nationalists.

- Miller (a Jew) would be considered the enemy of the White Supremacists.

Point out real links that Miller actually espoused White Nationalist comments or go home.

You can choose to ignore, but Miller's relationship with Richard Spencer are long documented. His statements about the poem and statue of liberty were not random.

I am just amazed that anyone rationalizes Acosta's rant.

I obviously did not vote for Trump and I think Miller's motivations are questionable but I watched the news conference and he was intellectually head and shoulders above the likes of Acosta. Miller went to Duke and Acosta to JMU - colleges don't always tell everything about intellectual prowess but in this case, I think it does tell the story.

I completely agree with you. Except for one thing - are you the poster who keeps bring up where they each went to college? If so, you're making it pretty obvious you (or your kid) didn't get into JMU and you're still bitter. Otherwise, why the insistence on putting down a good school? You're not exactly making liberals more appealing.

I don't think I have ever brought where one attends college up in posts previously because, in part, I have worked with people who went to less than stellar schools and they have been pretty sharp and competent. But the reality is that the better schools are more demanding when it comes to admission in relation to academic standards. Acosta showed that he could not think quickly on his feet and more to the point, he was reflecting his own bias as a reporter because he believes - probably correctly - that there is a racist component to the new immigration proposal.

You are drawing a lot of conclusions about a two minute conversation. Where did you go to college?

You would not be familiar with it .......... neither would Acosta!

ANOTHER FUN FACT: The statue of liberty was originally envisioned for Egypt and the Suez Canal. When Egypt said no, then the US was asked and said yes.

As a percent of total population, Canada already lets in many more immigrants than the US does. So if we want to do immigration Canada-style, we should be increasing the numbers. Not sharply curtailing them, as this bill would do.

that's fine - if we can mirror canada's immigration mix when it comes to sourcing.

Canada takes in a lot more asians and UK citizens as a % and a hell of a lot less NAM's (non-asian minorities - africans, latinos, etc).

I support huge increases in immigration from japan, korea, educated chinese, educated indians.

I support a curtailing of chain migration from south of the rio grande, central and south america, the middle east, pakistan, africa, etc.

Exactly the conclusion I came to, and I watched this exchange twice. Acosta came off as whiny, pouty, and clearly out of his league.

duke vs jmu on full display

it's like when ted cruz debates marco rubio.

t3 vs ttt

Don't bring a butter knife to a gun fight.

Is Duke in the Ivy League?

lmao, NO.

Dang, some boomer is really bitter about their kid not getting into JMU! Its really hard to get in from Northern VA, don't feel too bad. Maybe he can transfer in later if he does well at the college that accepted him.

a) you're not a liberal

b) yes, it was a stupid remark, which is why it was dumb to treat it like a REAL remark. Miller isn't "showing him up" by acting like Acosta is completely ignorant, when he just said something off-the-cuff that was not well thought out.

I was a liberal more than likely before you were born.

Yes, Acosta may have inadvertently said something dumb but then the answer would be to just acknowledge it and focus on why someone who does not speak English should be ruled out given that there are millions who have come to this country and then learned English.

So it's the Granny "As a liberal" troll.

Another intellectual giant!
