I think FCPS should stop taking the top X% of a school's population. It's unfair to my child that would have easily gotten into AAP at a lower SES school was denied JUST because we're at a school with a high SES/"competitive" and frankly, large Asian, population. I'll admit that I've shared my child's test scores/grades with friends who have kids who got into AAP at other schools (closer in, farther south) and it's flat out not fair to my child that they didn't get into AAP - their test scores are significantly higher, they got all 4s, even their HOPE rating was good.

Glad to see that you also agree that public opportunities (including a chance at an NBA contract) should be distributed on the basis of race.
How the heck do we expect asian men that never practice basketball to get into the NBA if we exclude their underrepresented bodies from contention for those spots.
And the NBA is a non-profit organization and they should make sure we have broad representation so that kids of all races can see faces like theirs playing in NBA games.

Or maybe we can just tell that asian kid to practice more and get good if he wants to play in the NBA.

UNC's basketball team has almost nothing to do with public educationa nd everything to do with making $$$. This analogy is flawed. Educational Opportunities in publicly funded schools should be available to all students not just those wealthy enough to afford prep classes. This has nothing to do with NBA tryouts.

Have you been to many FCPS basketball games? The ones I've seen have teams that mirror the student bodies a lot closer than AAP
