Japan has mixed gender changing rooms and shower facilities for centuries. Sexual attacks are almost unheard of in these places. All places have administrative staff on site.

Good luck with that. For the most part, society is moving forward. You very likely have already shared a public bathroom or locker room with a transgender person, and gay person, many, many, many times. Your ignorance may be giving you bliss, but it's not for lack of interacting with a transgender person.

Some people are uncomfortable with people who appear to be male changing in the women's locker room. Many posters have said that it shouldn't matter because no one should be looking. If that's the case, why separate us at all? No one should be looking, and we should all be totally cool with penises in the women's locker room.
Because we are actually talking about sending your teenaged daughter into a changing room with grown women.
But thank you for bringing up the real reason why there are gendered changing rooms -- namely, not to protect men from the sight of women's naked bodies and women from the sight of men's naked bodies, but rather to protect women (including transwomen) from being attacked by men.
Do transgenders have the equip, net to physically attack women like any other man? Are you saying that transgenders are not attracted to women because they have a desire to be a woman?

Exactly, but these supporters are saying a transgender comfort is more important than your discomfort. At the same time, most of them also say they are uncomfortable with six year old boys in a female locker room. Men are acceptable, but little boys are not. PC run amok

This is a friend of mine, and her incredibly courageous kid:

You wouldn't believe the hostility and ignorance that has been slung at this family, just so the kid could use the girl's bathroom. Death threats. Against a six-year-old. Who is no threat to anyone except those who need sex divided into neat little boxes.
Seriously. When you start to sling shit about transgender people, think of this little kid. That's who you're attacking.
feel sorry for the kid. I think in 25 years we will know a lot more about theses issues and regret many things that we did in the name of misunderstood science and medicine.

I have a right to be comfortable too, and a penis in the locker room would definitely make me uncomfortable. You can say its a personal failing, but we have separate bathrooms for a reason.
What is that reason?
Also, vaginas are internal. If you're going about your business in the locker room, and the other people are going about their business in the locker room, you're not going to be seeing any vaginas.
I knew when I typed that that some idiot would feel the need to correct me. You know what the hell I mean.
Men and women are different. Some women are uncomfortable changing under the eyes of strange men, and vice versa. If I don't see your penis, fine, but if I do I will be uncomfortable. I think I have a right to not be put in that position in the ladies dressing room. I understand that transgender people have their own fears and threats, but I don't think the solution is to say screw the comfort of everyone else.

Did this woman actually see a penis? Or did she just see a very masculine looking woman?
No she saw a woman who was broad shouldered and tall walk in and retrieve her purse from a locker.
