Of course you can take a class. I just don't think it's necessary to spend the time or money. We prepped both of our kids last year ourselves for the middle school magnets and the HGC and both got in. We used materials widely available on the internet and paid for one prep book and one app. So maybe $35.

If you go to any regular classroom in MCPS there are a range of student abilities. Many students are struggling. Most students do not fit the profile of the magnet students. If you visit a magnet classroom, you will see a difference, not just in the curriculum but in the students.[code]
