Hi PP, how does DD run with you? In a stroller? I love running and am also a single mom of a 4YO.

I had my DD at 39, she's four now. I'm a single mom, so right now one is enough, but if I had support I'd try for more.

You may have to tweak your diet and exercise to make sure you have proper energy, but if you're willing to do that, I'd say no problem have kids as late as you want.

I was fairly tired the first year, put it down to being a single working mom. When I was still tired 18 months in, I started doing research and ended up cutting wheat/gluten and most sugar out of my diet. That and an iron supplement changed everything, within 6 weeks I had tons of energy and became the mom who's outrunning her kid! Just recently I started jogging/running because DD wants to run races, and we'll be taking a rock climbing class together since she wants us to climb mountains as well.

My grandmother swam 2 miles a day into her late 80s. Age is just a number.

When you are 60, they will be in college ~ this is my husband (and I'm just a few years behind) It is fine.

I am 47 with 6 year old twins and three older kids. Although I love my wine and dairy, I run about six miles a day and most of my friends are younger moms. Age can just be a number but attitude and fitness are key. Parenting young kids effectively in middle age isn't for sissies.

+1 Too True! Different people have different problems at different ages. Your 77 yo mom could be a perfect driver, while many people in their 20-40s can't drive due to lack of focus from electronic distractions. This whole thread is so myopic. No two 41 yo moms are alike. I can't help but wonder why (it seems like) a handful of posters want to say "no" to a "trend" that's here to stay. Naysayers are so boring.

True. My mother is 81 and traveling all over the world, sometimes with a group and sometimes by herself. Usually travels to stay with friends' homes - Australia and NZ last year -but also rented an apt in London. France, Italy and England again this year. China next year. Constantly traveling.

Ask her to save a spot for me when she hits Italy again. I'd like to visit relatives!

Had twin boys at 41. They are now 10 and I at 51 can still whip them in basketball and a 60 yard dash! Age is nothing but a number. It is definitely your health and well being that counts.

I had mine at 34 and 36 - and I was done after the 2nd, my family felt complete. But I don't think that 41 is too old to have a baby, not at all.

I'm 47 now, with a young teen and a tween and life is pretty good. I'm really savoring these years before they head off to college, I know that the time will go by so fast. I wouldn't want to have a new baby now at this age. But at the same time, I'm happy that my kids aren't already grown and out of the nest.

My mom is 92 and she does my kids laundry, cooks, and takes care of my 3 year old twins and the neighbors 2 children also. My DH is 70 and I am 48. We are all in perfect health and everyone in my family lives into their 90s.
