When someone talks about a "journey" that does not directly involve traveling. i.e. All these Olympians who keep referring to their journey to winning gold.

"An historic moment." Was this always correct?

I believe so

When Walter Mondale picked Geraldine Ferraro as his VP nominee, the following Time Magazine cover headline was "A Historic Choice." The next week had a bunch of letters to the editor correcting it. Yes, I was eleven, and remember this, and yes, I did become an English major.

Why is it "an" instead of "a"?

I'm from the NE too, and that just sounds nasty.

Annoys the hell out of me when an award recipient at a ceremony or award show starts their speech with, "I want to thank God, because without him none of this would be possible, he is great and I couldn't have done it without him"

I appreciate the faith and trust in God that many people have, as well as their appreciation of his goodness and the power of his presence.

Anything that people say repeatedly within the course of a conversation reminds me of like a speech tick or something. I do call their attention to it if we are close enough friends.

I'll admit that I'm 43 and still say "dude" for a multiple of purposes. I know I should stop but its ingrained in my vocabulary.
