That's what Sears should do. That's the kind of thing we voters care about

What tax do you want to increase to offset that loss in revenue?

Who cares? Jim Gilmore won on that issue alone. Virginia survived.

So you want a meaningless promise?

Let me guess, you wanted that wall.

It was good politics, that's all I'm saying. And Va. has always been a well managed state so I don't know what you mean by meaningless promise. I hate the care tax.

It’s terrible politics. A politician making promises they can’t keep is meaningless.

VA needs revenue. If you want to take away the car tax, where else do you want to be taxed? Income? Sales tax?

? I guess you weren't around when Jim Gilmore ran and won on this very issue

Effective campaigning isn’t good politics. Lies and empty promises are effective when clueless people believe them.

I was here and voted against that nonsense.

VA needs leaders who don’t make meaningless promises.

Sigh. No, it doesn’t. We don’t even have aliens on this planet, and no humans are “illegal.”

You’re wrong.

Virginia does pay for illegal aliens/non-Virginians/migrants/undocumented migrants to go to college. But those veterans kids - they are the problem. 🙄 That is the Democrat platform.

Aren’t spouses and children of disabled vets already eligible for assistance through the DEA program? Why would there need to be a state program?

Because at some point elected representatives voted to provide the benefit. DEA is only a $1500 a month stipend which does not cover costs of college. Yet, when the universities decided they needed more money they targeted veterans instead of illegals. Why should non-tax paying , non-Virginians get money for college? Choosing to target the children of disabled vets over kids who have degraded public schools for a generation across northern Virginia is an irrational choice made by the Democrats. (ELL students needs are seismic and to the detriment of citizen children).

The link you provided says:

“Submitted evidence that they, in the case of a dependent student, or at least one parent, guardian, or person standing in loco parentis has filed, unless exempted by state law, Virginia income tax returns free at least two years prior to the date of registration or enrollment“

It’s because Jones is not Miyares. I would crawl across broken glass to vote against Miyares.

Jay Jones wants children murdered. He texted that he wants bullets in people's heads.

He also drives like a reckless jerk. 116, which is 46 over the speed limit. His "punishment" was 500 hours of community service at his own political action committee (no conflict of interest here)! You can't make this up. Yet somehow (please do tell us) you think he's better than Miyares?

I'll wait for your answer PP. That doesn't sound deranged at.all.

I am a NP wading in here.

I think the cringiest moment of the debate came when Spanberger refused to condemn the calls to violence by Jay Jones; she just stood there, staring straight ahead, just just ignoring Sears like she did not exist.

That’s not what happened at all. She unequivocally condemned his remarks. Said they were abhorrent. Why are you lying?

Don’t expect an answer. This thread is full of outright lies and no one ever responds to the reasonable questions calling them out.

Don’t respond to the blatant lies. Just hit the report button.

Don’t tolerate MAGA disinformation.

I didn't write that, but I think what the other poster means is she never answered whether she endorses him still. The two answers are:

A) He said abhorrent things but is still the best choice
OR
B) He said abhorrent things and therefore should drop out.

Even the moderators kept asking her to clarifying whether she still endorses him or not.

Gee, I wonder how we managed to survive when Gilmore did it? It's not a meaningless promise -- I don't know where you're getting that.

She is a MAGA nut job. No facts or platform, just rude and combative.

Plus, she backs Trump. We need a governor who will stand up to his attacks on Virginians, not embrace them.

I do think the race is a referendum on Trump. That's about all Spanberger seems to have going for her. Come to think of it, that's about all Kamala had going for her as well

Spanberger answered complex questions thoughtfully and with nuance. Questions like how Virginia is going to power data centers without crushing electricity bills. Sears just interrupted nonstop! It was nuts! She has no plan, only soundbites.

MAGA don’t have a platform, just slimy campaign tactics.
