True, probably easier to win in Queens than in Manhattan whose political scene is dog-eat-dog. Agree that he is very telegenic and knows how to smile for the camera. How does that qualify him to be Mayor? Maybe he'll make some great tourism videos to lure the tourists and their money back!

Being telegenic and little more seems to be the qualification for most of Trumps cabinet. At least this guy has some ideas

Comparing someone favorably to the bottom of the barrel who fill Trump's Cabinet is not a ringing endorsement.

How would cuomo help NYc?

Do you post this whataboutism nonsense everywhere?

I don’t think you know what that expression means. But I’ll ask again, what are the ideas that Cuomo has that you like?

Um, I do know what it means, "yeah, what about Cuomo?"

Ok what do you like about Cuomo?

Huh days later and no response.

Btw your petition to prevent ZM from winning has a whopping 44 signatures

Thanks tough guy. Call me when the city is in the crapper because it is being run by an inexperienced child. Unlike the Mamdani kool-aid drinkers, the rest of us can admit the many flaws of the people we are "supporting" (and most of us aren't supporting them, we are just choosing the lesser evil). The Mamdani supporters are like Trump supporters - blindly follow and refuse to admit any flaws. There have been some in this thread who this does not apply to and I appreciate and respect their perspective. But the rest get so defensive and are so unrealistic about the realities of running a big, complicated city.

As if you even live in NYC…

You go first. Where do you live?

I know you are but what am I.

You are demonstrating that the average Mamdani voter is a low class moron who has no understanding of how the real world works. Your repeated dumb comments and continued unwillingness to admit one flaw in his platforms is the height of ignorance and stupidity. It is ironic that those on the far left are behaving in a very Trumpy way. Those who are opposed to Mamdani are very willing to admit the flaws of the other candidates. And acknowledge strengths - I hated deBlasio but will give him credit for UPK. You will not.

Enjoy your rent freeze. I hope it makes you feel special.

By not implementing a rent freeze and not pulling cops away from domestic violence victims. That alone is better than anything mamdani would do.

https://nypost.com/2025/07/11/us-news/zohran-mamdani-said-nypd-shouldnt-respond-to-domestic-violence-calls-in-resurfaced-podcast-interview/

Mamdani said he intends to keep police force at the same rate, and that he’d work with Tisch.

Do you know anything about DV? Cops are not who I want to deal with for domestic violence issues.

Domestic violence? Yes, I do. Abusers belong in cuffs and should be roughed up. I would love to see a social worker try to talk down an angry man in a wifebeater who is loose with his wrist. It’d make a good snuff film, maybe I should sell it.

Mamdani says a lot of things. Believe them at your own peril.

I don’t think you have much experience around DV situations. They’re often complicated with no clear victim and aggressor, and complicated family dynamics. 90 percent of CPS calls where I live, as ex, are driven by divorce and custody related disputes. Police are not always great in these situations and personally I want them fighting real crime, not dealing with squabbling partners.

Oh yea, women beat men all the time (sarcasm) and we never know when a 120 lbs woman can knock the teeth out of her fat 250 lbs husband. Cops get confused about who the aggressor is all the time.

You clearly have no experience in this area.

Funny. Maybe she beats him with a stiletto and lipstick.

You can save your money, Bill.

Who is Bill?

Mamdani is just throwing a lot of ideas out to the masses and seeing what sticks. That is not how one governs. Some are better than others. But you can't do that. My two biggest concerns are crime (I want all of the repeat offenders of petty crime locked up, which will discourage future offenses by others) and fiscal responsibility. I am supportive of social service programs for those in need, but I want them done intelligently and not just throwing money recklessly at problems like DeBlasio did.

As usual, we are racing to the extremes. No one is all good or all bad. But everyone here seems hell bent on defending their side. And this is particularly noticeable among the Mamdani supporters, which is particularly frightening since he is most likely going to be our next mayor. He really has to screw up to lose at this point. So why are people so opposed to asking him tough questions. The guy has barely been challenged at all. It is not good.

And I would like to note that I am a Jew who would rather more time questioning him on policies that directly impact NYC than wasting time on the anti-semitism stuff. I don't love his answers on that and wish he would have been an adult and easily put out that fire, but that is barely part of his job description. I am honestly more worried about how poorly he handled it than about him actually being anti-Semitic. A seasoned politician with good people around him could have made that all go away quickly.

What are you talking about? Mamdani has been challenged again and again. He was an ‘adult’ when he responded, in fact. Unfortunately you just didn’t like his response which is to not pledge total allegiance to Israel. And if you’d open your eyes and face reality, you’d see that any person with a soul would understand why.

De blasio, for all his faults, passed universal pre K which was life changing for families.

You’re lying and twisting as always, Bill. Similar to the twists and turns you had to take to excuse your wife’s shocking plagiarism.

No one is saying that abusers should get off or that abusers aren’t typically men (and they are certainly far more lethal); quite the contrary. What is being said in that certain mental health and domestic situations, the police are not always the most ideal responders. And certainly if you actually worked around DV, you’d know that your trope about a 250 man in a ‘wife beater’ and a 120 lb with a ‘stiletto’ is not the reality in most domestic dispute cases.

Sorry it took me so long to respond. I was too busy beating the crap out of a social worker who asked me to stop punching my spouse in the temple.
