The boycott has been effective. Huge losses and CEO stepping down.

Earlier this year, Target announced it was rolling back its diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, joining several other companies which have scaled back such efforts amid pressure from the Trump administration and several conservative groups. However, this rollback triggered a backlash and a boycott against Target and criticism from civil rights activists. The boycott appears to have had an impact, as RetailBrew reported that foot traffic at Target was down 3.1% in Q2 2025. While announcing the previous quarter’s earnings report in May, Cornell acknowledged the backlash to company’s DEI rollback was one of the factors behind a revenue decline.
For all those people who said it wouldn't work. Here you go. Now we have to get serious about boycotting other brands. I don't even miss Target.

Mine buys from Ulta.

Where exactly do you suppose people are shopping instead of Target?
Walmart? Ownership supports and donates massively to Republicans.
Amazon? Bezos. ‘Nuff said.
The Target boycott is actively counterproductive—it’s literally giving more $ to Trump sycophants.
So stupid.
You didn't understand the boycott. We knew Walmart and Amazon weren't sh!t. We never expected anything from them. As an FYI, the Walmart grandchildren are very liberal and their foundation supports lots of climate organizations. Target slapped us in the face. The moment they got a chance to turn on us, they did. Plus, lots of other places to shop. I go to the grocery store and Costco. Plus, I've been a Penzey fan forever.

I know!
Haven’t been in over six months and the one time I thought they might have something, I decided I could do without. No angst at all.

It’s a perfect storm against Target. Boycott and economic influences affecting people’s behavior.

Anonymous wrote:Honestly I have just been shopping less in general it’s easy to blame the boycott but I think it’s a lot of things. Unlike Walmart, most people don’t actually grocery shop at target, just grab a few things, where as Walmart is the actual grocery store for a lot of people. In an economic downturn Walmart will probably be able to persist much longer.

Walmart has really upped their game. Stores are bright and clean with a lot of staff around.
Target always seems to be understaffed. They don’t have as much stuff and are generally more expensive. Their self checkout lines are limited compared to the rows and rows at Walmart.

You must have an upscale Walmart. Our is will very low SES. We stock up once a year on cleaners/household products/OTC meds and get the hell out.
