Maybe ask her what she wants and stop putting your thoughts on her. Let her develop her own ideas and values. Give it a try.

DS is currently at Florida and loves it. He has gotten two amazing internships including this upcoming summer making $42/hour for a prestigious company. The career center is very good. The on-line is not as big of thing as parents are making. Most classes you can optionally attend live lectures. There is so much to do in and around the town. So many clubs and plenty of kids don’t party. Overall an amazing school, great professors, great research opportunities. The Cons are that even some of the clubs are competitive where kids get rejected, from clubs! I think the tour guides is like 1 in 10 that apply get picked. I think way more so than other schools (from my other two kids.) The dorms are terrible. Like really bad but I guess good enough for an 18 year old. More homelessness in Gainesville than typical town that size. And lastly, it is a real pain to travel back and forth. Mostly we fly through Jacksonville.

My thoughts are ;
1. It’s Florida. Wacky state.
2. Too far.

UF is amazing and keeps on rising! Wonderful school and students. Go Gators !

Simple fact is that de Santis has severely hurt UF. I teach at a top 10 private R1 and we feel nothing but pity for our colleagues there. Lots trying to get out, general perception that UF has fallen dramatically. Wouldn't send my kid there for anything given the current climate and steep decline.
