Indeed.

This is nuts like all of his corrupt ideas.
The theory is that most of these people aren't doing much and will move on once the cushy teleworking govt job scam is up.
The jig is up. The problem is that these people can't work in the private sector where there is accountability and you have to be in the office. I see all of the government teleworkers - they are at yoga in the middle of the day, playing tennis, hanging out with their kids on the playground. It's much easier to be fired in the private sector.
I know a few teleworkers, and not only do they actually work, but they still have their little kids in daycare to boot. They have to be available on the computer or by phone every minute of the day, and have to give notification when they leave for a break or lunch. I don't see how anyone could be at yoga during the day. They can't even grab a snack when they want.

Government employees know a lot about government benefits and forms and aren't going to up and quit without a lot more formal explanation and paperwork. The only ones who are going to leave are the ones who are eligible to retire between now and September anyhow, the ones who are truly remote and RTO would be basically impossible, and the ones who would be quitting in the next couple of months for other reasons. They are definitely not going to get 5-10% of the workforce (which sucks for everyone else, it probably means they will definitely fire all the provisional employees, for example, to boost the numbers they will want to crow about).
Not verified, but I heard that trump set a team to OPM, and they installed a drive, send the emails from OPM’s servers, and then left. This email did not come directly from and was not cleared by OPM.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:It is not a buyout. I wish the media would report on this accurately. There is no guarantee you will be put on admin leave until you resign. The only perk you get is teleworking until your resignation date.
It is a trick.
Exactly right. There is no severance package. And once you resign they can terminate you at any time. Don’t be fooled people.
This seems like a glaring omission in the FAQ. If there is a RIF between now and Sept 30 and your position is impacted, are you exempt if you take this deal? Or can they expedite your end date to effective immediately without having to deal with severance. There’s verbiage around how the employee can choose a date earlier than Sept 30 to terminate their employment, but nothing about whether their agency or OPM can accept their resignation at an earlier date.

I'm seriously considering the offer. I love my job, and I voted for Trump (come at me!). But it appears that forced relocations are in the mix. My spouse makes 7 figures. I think I might just leave and find a consulting gig.
Propaganda
No, I'm a real person. The number of people with circumstances similar to mine is vanishingly small so I don't think my situation would work well for propaganda. I've already been on the fence about continuing in the government for various reasons that have nothing to do with politics. I've enjoyed my career and just considering leaving while the party is still fun.
If you trust Elon Musk will pay you to do jack then just send them the resignation email. So few people are going to do it that they might highlight your situation in the next OPM email blast.
I’m confused. Elon did this same thing at Twitter. Where are all of the first hand accounts of people resigning and then not getting their payouts?

It also means jobs that were being done will no longer be completed. How does this help the American person?
The government is NOT a business and shouldn’t be treated as one. The government is there to serve the needs of the people. Based on everything happening in the US, I see plenty of need.
