Subject: DS's friend called me a "tiger mom"- should I say something?
When I was growing up in the DMV back in 1998, I was ridiculed by kids in high school because I always had activities like music and sport lessons. HS kids made fun of me that I had a "tiger" mom. Two of those kids happened to attend UVA along with me after graduation, and their college girlfriends dumped them for me as a D1 athlete. I guess I have to thank my "tiger" mom for that. Karma is a biatch...

And I would stop telling him your schedule. Just say "That date doesn't work for us."
He was wrong to say that, OP.
I agree you should let your son speak for himself. Or, if your son doesn’t know the schedule, you could say you and son will talk it through later.

White people also get called tiger moms because they instill academics and practice at home.

I'm concerned that the little racial digs by your son's "friend" could affect his self-esteem. Little comments like that over time all add up.

It sounds like he’s repeating what he heard from his parents, or your son himself? That is a specific epithet and in response to those activities you named.
