+1 It was all handled so very poorly by the judges.

Even the resolution has been handled poorly. The bronze should be shared. Its what Romanian has called for as well. This isn't on the girls or even the coaches.

I think the reason these games just feel like more fun and more compelling is that it's such a relief after the Tokyo games during Covid. For the athletes specifically it's just obvious this is a better and more joyous experience and I think that translates to the audience.

I've seen many interviews with repeat Olympians who have mentioned this too. Like one of the first things repeat winners have said is how wonderful it is to have their family at the games and to have a crowd cheering for them and I think they specifically mean in contrast to Tokyo when the athletes were very isolated and many events were basically silent or close to it. I just think they feel looser and happier and are enjoying their time in a way they couldn't before.

Definitely! Seeing the athletes having fun on social media has been a nice part of it for me.

Funny, what does their social media presence add to your life?

We only see what the camera want us to see. NBC said they wanted to film the Olympics like a reality show and that is what we are seeing, lots of close ups of smiles, hugs, and families, hi fives, so it is formulated for us to feel a pseudo relationship with these people.

I'm the PP and honestly have not watched much of the NBC broadcast coverage. I've watched some of the live coverage on Peacock, some foreign feeds of events (a lot of the British feeds of events because they are available soonest) plus lots of replays and interviews on YouTube. So this isn't really based on NBC's evening coverage which has always been heavily packaged and included a ton of "personal interest" stories that are clearly intended to tug at heart strings. That is not new at all and I generally avoid it as much as I can.

The comments about enjoying these games more because of the ability to have a more "normal" Olympic experience with crowds and family present and a regular Olympic village were all from athletes themselves during off the cuff interview (or stuff they posted themselves to social media). Not a story NBC is selling.

We watched the USWNT gold medal game. It was a great game, but my feed cut out before the medal ceremony. I thought they’d have listened to feedback about this by now.

The US T&F team is gorgeous. And, of course, awesome!

Yes NBC shows a lot of close up shots of the biracial female track athletes.
