Hard to understand how this is supposed to be reassuring.

You can’t claim misogyny is the problem and then put up Michelle or Whitmer!

Agree - and if the Dems don't push her out and start fresh with somebody that can WIN no matter their color (including a white man, if that's what it takes), then the party is simply too stupid to vote for.

Biden/Harris campaign money can only be used by Biden or Harris. Anyone else would be stating from scratch. Harris is really the only alternative to Biden.

Agreed.

I don’t really understand the objections to Harris. She would be better than Trump, and is more alive and mentally competent than Biden. Plus, she would get Biden’s war chest.

I actually think a lot of the objections to Harris are just the virulent misogyny that’s a significant part of the Democratic Party these days. It’s all the same.

(FWIW I am a centrist Democrat who will never vote for Trump.)

Misogyny or no misogyny, a campaign is about WINNING and she is grating. Biden was the pick in 2020 because he was what we needed to WIN - a white guy who was capable to telling Trump to F-off. To WIN it has to be a DUDE that can deliver Pennsylania, Michigan and Wisconsin.

With a large war chest behind her that is well-managed, I am convinced she could win. Trump is such a weak candidate.

I don't think so. There's a reason she's been relatively hidden over the past three years. That's why her poll numbers now are relatively good. But once she's on TV 24/7 as the Democratic nominee, and more people are exposed to her word salad and the ease with which she gets flustered, that'll change. She made her name as the Attorney General of California, and you know Republicans will be all over that. Ditto her role as the border czar. She will be immediately be put in the pro-criminals, pro-open borders, California progressive box. And she has lost a lot of staff as VP, which suggests she's a terrible and insecure manager. She's also not that much better that Biden in conveying a coherent thought. Plus I don't think it's a given that blacks are going to rally around a woman that primarily identified as Indian for most of her life, which makes sense since her Jamaican father was largely absent. Very, very few people survive the hyper-glare of media attention when running for President. Including her when she ran in 2020 and dropped out before the first primary.

I think she'd be a disastrous fill-in for Biden under the circumstances. Kamala Harris is not winning Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, Nevada and all the other battleground states. Even New Jersey and New Hampshire are polling for Trump now. If Democrats want to stop the upcoming collapse, they will have to choose differently. But of course passing over a woman of color VP for a white person will absolutely destroy the base.

In the end, it was a terrible idea to anoint a feeble and elderly Biden. I do not see any possible salvation from their arrogance.

She also was a side hoe to a well liked civil rights activist and mayor Willie Brown -still married by the way for over 70 years to his first wife. That isn’t going to go over with black women at all. She was paraded around with Willie Brown in his arm and it was known she was the married mayor’s girlfriend

Grating? Let me guess, of course you want a woman president just not THAT woman (or Hillary, or Warren, or Klobacher…) and you’ll find something about Whitmer. It never fails.

Right now I want someone that CAN WIN. I could give a shit right now if it’s a woman; that will come with time IF democracy doesn’t crumble.

Can't have a president and vp from the same state. Constitutional issue. California's electoral votes would be discarded and no democrat can win without California. And that is a very losing ticket regardless.

You've got it reversed. Newsom will be top of the ticket.

This just complicates the whole issue.

Many Dems and Donors want him out, he still seems to have lots of support…. So at this rate he will limp into the general election and get blown out.

Either he needs to be replaced asap or every dem needs to get on board to defend him and support him. This mixed messaging will definitely cost him the election.

The Dem governors meeting was theater. Not all guvs were supportive inside the meeting. Those that came out publicly afterward endorsing him are the same guvs who are thirstily eyeing his spot for when he goes. This is just a prelude to his announcement that he is pulling out, where he will say he's doing it of his volition and not because he was forced out.

No, Newsom is reviled in CA.

And outside of CA.

But what if the reason is actually her as an individual. How she has performed.

Is that an impossible scenario?

White guys don't like her. Most of them vote Republican anyways.

Harris can galvanize the base, keep college education women engaged and get more of the youth vote than Biden at this point.

Pick a VP from one of the swing states and go for it!

More importantly, white girls don't like her. And POC guys and girls don't like her much either.

Wrong.
