But I’m glad you’re fine with people talking about their travel plans at school functions. Otherwise it is even harder to converse at these events with people you don’t know well. I don’t even travel on winter breaks but if someone brings up their exciting travel plans, I’m happy I can get in on that conversation by asking questions about that area and why they want to go there, etc.

If you socialize in the private school crowd you should expect to find families wealthier than yours. You should remember the decision to send your child to whichever school you chose was a decision made in the best interests of your child--not your ego. So the best way forward is to manage the insecurities however you need to.

Trip talk doesn’t bother me. I know several families who prioritize travel experiences over a large house or eating out a lot. Some families prioritize club sports (very expensive) and the $$ for extra training. Life is choice. I even know some families who are so focused i. retirement savings that they spend the minimum on their kids. Anyway. I like seeing the photos and gives me ideas for future plans. Many people are happy to share where they found deals especially if you are open to traveling to niche places. I am guessing OP is triggered because she doesn’t like the people
even before they had trip talk.

I'm sorry, but if other people talking honestly about their trip plans or travel experiences triggers you, you probably have some insecurity issues. Work on this if you really want to be happy. I don't always enjoy hearing about people's travel, but I listen politely or comment on the photos politely (or just scroll along). I can honestly say it has never made me jealous or feel bad about my own life. I know there are people more well off than I am, more accomplished, etc. It's just a fact of life.
