I thought it was really strange when our oldest first started school - why are so many people asking the same exact boring question? Some had extravagant plans, others like us, more modest. I don't think this is just a private school thing. Personally, I'd rather commiserate with the PP about their basement cleanout! It makes me want to come up with a very boring and socially awkward answer just to see the other person's reaction

I'm not the one with the complaints, just opining that you're not arguing in good faith if literally nothing can be objectionable on social media as long as it's positive.

You still haven't made it clear why you're criticizing people making really normal small talk or talking honestly about their travel plans. Why so annoyed by it if you can really handle it?
You don't see a difference between talking about it (which I think is almost always fine) and plastering pictures of private jets or caviar on IG?
You have one hell of a chip on your shoulder.

Are you saying you know actual fellow private school parents who do this? I mean, if you find this off putting, then don’t follow these people on instagram!
But I’m glad you’re fine with people talking about their travel plans at school functions. Otherwise it is even harder to converse at these events with people you don’t know well. I don’t even travel on winter breaks but if someone brings up their exciting travel plans, I’m happy I can get in on that conversation by asking questions about that area and why they want to go there, etc.
Whenever someone makes an objectionable post on social media, your suggestion would be to unfollow them (even if everything else on their account is usually fine)?!?
